Big XII CCG - Divisions?

No, if they play a CCG with ten teams they must do it with a round robin-guaranteeing a rematch of the top two teams. That is the amendment that was accepted.
No that will NOT happen for the following reasons.
- TV networks require a 90 games of in-conference games which requires a full round robin of play.
- Assuming round robin is a must, it makes no sense to have division play. For the same reason the ACC wanted to hold have a CCG game without division, the BIG12 wants to have the best game possible for CCG and avoid the possibility of having a 7 win east team playing an 11 win west team.

This is exactly what the BIG12 was hoping for under the original legislation provided by the ACC. The last second BIG10 amendment kept this in-place for the BIG12 while screwing the ACC. The reason BIG12 wanted this in place was to have a CCG with 10 teams without splitting into division.
It is outstanding that the ACC got screwed and that they actually voted against the new amendment.
The ACC didn't vote against the amendment. That was incorrectly reported. The NCAA has corrected that mistatement and it was actually the SEC and AAC that voted against--the ACC voted for:

Yeah, i read it over completely again. I only glanced it over at first so i was thinking division might happen. As it looks right now nothing will be changed other then a added conference championahip game. IMO rematches are silly.
Do you favor home/away games in basketball or are they also silly? Having a 'championship' game, which WILL be a rematch because of the round robin format, provides a more even 'playing field' with the other conferences, potentially generates more excitement for the BigXII throughout the sports world and, most likely, an easier trip toward the eventual championship, and generates more revenue for the conference. We have played several games with BigXII opponents where I would have welcomed a return game. Remember the TCU game in Morgantown with the horrible late pass coverage mixup and then the horrible call in the end zone? I welcome the chance for a conference championship game WITHOUT the requirement that we dilute the conference by adding just for the sake of having higher numbers.
Again your talking basketball im referring to FOOTBALL and yes rematches are silly in FOOTBALL. Troll somebody else.
Gunner, expand your horizons bud! This new ruling is ripe for "outside the box" thinking if anyone would go there.
If I read this right you can have a CCG if: 1.) You play a round robin, 2.) You have a process to rank CCG opponents. 3.) You can still have divisions as long as play is a round Robin format. 4.) Rematch play is inevitable, but managable.
So what IF: B12 splits into 2 divisions of 5 but still plays a round robin. Utilize a modified English Premier League scoring system to rank teams within the division: 2 points for a division win, maybe 3 outside division, etc. Come up with something that represents strength both within and outside div.
The rematch is inevitable, but you get teams that were powers both within and outside the division. Also makes expansion easy if it come to that. B12 needs something to separate itself from the pack. Maybe a little creative thinking is in order.
If you play a round robin what benefit would there be of having divisions?
A round robin CCG guarantees a rematch and nothing more. You don't gain anything by creating divisions in that scenario and having a rematch just guarantees one of your top teams has another loss.
Normally, yes you are correct. But implementation of a scoring system, something you neglected to address, changes the dynamics and adds another layer. No different than SOS.
I believe they are going to go with the top ranked schools as the two best if they opt to do the CCG with 10 schools
And I BELIEVE that this is a great opportunity to do something radical if there is any forward-thinking ( a concept bantered about lately) in CFB.
Why be the guy that is expected to be what they have been in the past? Isn't that in a cologne commercial or something?
Wins in the division worth 2 points, wins outside the division worth 1 point. Divisional game should be more important than cross division games.
Ok, let's take it a step further with 1 point for any OOC FBS win, but nothing for an FCS or lower opponent.
Then let's try this based on 2015 results:
RED RIVER DIVISION:
OU-15
OSU-12
Baylor-12
Texas-8
KSU-7
HIGH PLAINS DIVISION:
TCU-14
WVU-10
Texas Tech-9
ISU-1
Kansas-0
I think an OU vs. TCU CCG, even though a rematch would have been a great game to see.
Also, without divisions the tie between OSU & TCU would have gone to OU. This way TCU gets the CCG shot with more points also reflecting SOS.
