....... for now. I like the call for a number of reasons and the most apparent to me at this point in time is that the Big XII didn't cave to the Selection Committee's very, very inappropriate endeavor to dictate to the conference(s) how the regular season is/are conducted. [smoke]

The most important words in your post were the first two - "For Now". It is going to happen - and as far as I am concerned it makes zero sense to have a championship game in a 10 team conference that plays a round robin schedule. (Of course I am one of the minority on this board that favors a 12 team conference)

I say give it five years. If it is the Big12 left out every year then something has to change in the conference. If during the next five years, it is teams like Florida State, Alabama, Notre Dame, tOSU, Michigan, Oregon, Auburn, UCLA, Stanford that are on the bubble and are getting left out of the Championship Mix with a #5 ranking, then I bet other voices start to bring the heat for the tourney to get expanded to 8 teams. I don't think 4 slots for 5 power conferences is ever going to work. I don't see two teams out there for the Big12 to add that helps out with the revenue stream AND our travel or our status with natural rivals anyway, but that's just me I guess. BYU and somebody else just isn't too exciting, plus it takes away round robin and having flexibility in OOC to schedule old rivals.

Sounds to me like it was classic overreaction then finally, a sensible decision. How many years are we going to see a conf winner take the champ game by 59-0 or whatever it was, and with a 3rd string QB? That's what did the Big 12 champ in. If not for that one of our two would have been in. It's obvious that OSU deserved it. The problem is, so did one of the Big 12's top two. Eight may be perfect to some but it won't happen quickly. People may be afraid it will keep ballooning.
Just keep it at four for now and see what happens. Not every conf winner deserves to be in the playoffs. Most years yes but there are some years, and we saw it back in the old BE along with some of the ACC champions that they just weren't that good.
People need patience.
