That's okay, Z. Cal doesn't know where Zagreb is either, although if he loses in the first round a couple more times he may be coaching there.
Europe laughs at the thought of cal coaching in a league where it’s about skill and coaching. The college game has mirrored Europe the last 5-7 years. The European game passed cal long before college did

That's okay that you don't know where Providence is, Z.

Calipari doesn't know where Zagreb is either, although if he loses in the first round a couple more times he may be coaching there.
He doesn’t deserve that. Let him coach in Russia or China. Croatia is far too nice for someone with his money. Like failing and being sent to paradise as punishment.

Are we sure it's in the United States?

Are we sure about that? And we're playing Kansas?

Where are they from ? The United States ?

When I was a kid Providence and Princeton were playing UK, and I asked my dad why we never went to those games. He informed me those schools were in the northeast and not Caldwell and Webster Counties as I believed.

Anyway, that was the NCAA and the NIT. So those games wouldn't have been in Western Kentucky anyway.

Our high school played the high school versions.

You’re underestimating basketball in China
Nah, I’m just not considering it. I’m considering where a wealthy man like Cal would enjoy. Croatia is beautiful with great weather. It would be one of my prime retirement destinations. That’s no punishment for failure.

He can go coach in Qingdao or something instead. Maybe even that is too nice for him. Urumqi would work.

I lived in China for nearly 8 years, so I know they enjoy their basketball. At least professionally they are good, but most university basketball teams (even at tier 1 universities) are pretty mediocre. Attendance is basically no one. Kentucky high school basketball quality at best. Everyone seems to play though and all the public courts will be full of college kids hooping, all year, but their skill level in general is just not great.

They love the NBA though. Looooove it. You see a ton more Warriors shirts than you do professional Chinese basketball gear, like the Guangzhou Loong Lions. When Kobe died my students were distraught. Some girls cried in class that morning.

Sad to say, but odds are big Z knows more US geography than most of his US teammates.

Back in the day Sam Perkins (UNC) was asked about the tournament game against Georgia and he said that he didn't even know where Georgia was. Of course, based on what we know now, I would have been surprised if he knew where South Carolina was located on the map.

BTW, it was 1983 and Georgia won 82-77.

I couldn't pass 5th grade until I knew all the States Capitols, the preamble to the Constitution, and the Presidents in order. We need to hold our students to higher standards.
How many years to accomplish those tasks?
