Bowls mean nothing these days. If your not in the playoffs or maybe the rose bowl it means nothing. Kinda sad really.
WVU is still better than Pitt was IMO

You are right right Greg, the bookies had the Big 12 teams as underdogs in all their bowl games except one and they did not disappoint. I think you still need to look at the bigger sample and check the league record against power five teams during the season. I would guess that the Big 12 is obviously worse than the SEC and Big 10 maybe a little better than ACC and Pac 12 and not as good as ND and Navy, Im too lazy to actually look up the WL records.

I think the B12 was stronger earlier in the season, but not so much later.
As far as the bowls, we could use the excuse the SEC uses when they lose a bowl, that we really didn’t care about that bowl... except of course the ones we win which shows how truly dominant of a conference we are.
I was so uninterested in bowls this year it was not even funny. I watched the Clemson-OSU game from about the second quarter on, but that was the only bowl watching I did. It doesn’t matter to me how great or bad the B12 does/did if WVU is not playing. My focus is on basketball right now. Hopefully WVU can keep up the momentum of beating OSU and not think they have arrived and just coast against Kansas.
ACC sucks this year. PAC sucks this year. In my mind Big12 sucks this year. Throw them all in a hat minus Oklahoma, Oregon and Clemson and they all basically are average to below.
The quality of all games has been trending down in college football and not just for the bowl games. Even the current dynastic teams are somewhat ho-hum compared to teams from the past. Conferences expanded, letting in lesser teams that really should not be at this level. Bowls expanded, letting teams with poor win ratios play in the post season. In the past teams that went 8-3 stayed in the old system, you had to be good to get a bowl and those games were good.
Now, because conferences have bowl tie ins for 7 or 8 teams if they have 10 members, everyone with a pulse goes bowling and we end up with all of these train wrecks. No one earns anything any more.
The new bowl system is terrible and it has taken a lot away from college football imo. Its just more of this idea that everyone deserves a trophy. The games are meaningless now which is why players skip it to not risk injury. Everyone knows that is just a bunch of money making crap that the NCAA and the networks came up with to sell more ads.

Winning that bowl was something to be proud of. Conference "bragging rights" had a lot more ring to it then than now.
Now, with the innumerable bowls, just making one isn't worth a hill of beans. Sometimes schools actually lose money playing in them. Opponents are often of lesser quality, stars don't play, attendance is abysmal, ratings are worse, and it is all perpetrated to gain money for the shill who is sponsoring the bowl.
It's a simple matter of supply and demand. The supply exceeds the demand and the value goes down in the eyes of the fan bases.

Actually beat Pitt.
WVU is better than pretty much your entire conference except one or two teams.
ACC has bowl wins but they are against G5 conferences.
All the Big 12 schools even Kansas would have beaten Eastern Michigan

I have found that life is more fun if you give it a thumbs-up rather than the middle finger. There's no way to sugar-coat it, even by a WVU/Big 12 homer like me, but the Big 12 bowl record this season is terrible. These things are cyclical so hopefully WVU under Neal Brown can change things for the 2020 football season.
That wasn’t very nice. It now appears the 2nd best Big12 team is struggling with the 4th best SEC team.
