When he played Mississippi State he was knocked senseless for 2 days. Does anyone remember who put that lick on him?

But I remember the hit
Edited to add this from BDJ:
And for those Bulldog fans that remember Smith's play on the field, they also recall some impressive and punishing hits laid by old No. 2.

And so does Smith.

"My number one hit would have to be against Ricky Williams in the Cotton Bowl," said Smith. "It was one of the few times any of us actually knocked him backwards and most of the time he was running over us.

<span style="font-weight: bold;">"I remember another hit I got on Tim Couch of Kentucky. I lit him up near out-of-bounds and he got mad about it. Then I got another hit on Couch, a play where he threw an interception to Ashley Cooper who returned it for a touchdown.</span> Then I had a lot of good hits against Arkansas and Alabama and was Defensive Player of the Week in the SEC both of those games."

JJ Johnson ran over a Vandy linebacker in an awesome hit. I liked the hit our secondary had on the white receiver from UT. The pass was about 4 feet over his head and he was cleaned out....

Was it Kendel Roberson that got jacked up by Ricky Williams in the Cotton Bowl? Tried to make an open field tackle, squared up, got low, wrapped up....did everything right except for being in the way of Ricky Williams.

Dicenzo (sp?) Miller blew up a guy from South Carolina in the first game after 9-11. I was on a run he had toward the south endzone.

All the hits that were put on Eli Manning in one of the Egg Bowls at home (99 I think). That was the game I started respecting Eli. Our D kept teeing off on him and he would get back up.

he is dead on- Keo knocking Luke the 17 out is #1 without a doubt and nothing else is even close...the Jimmy Johns lick pales in comparision...I'll take Josh Morgan or one of Ashley Cooper's big hits for 2nd place

Watching Luke throw up on the sideline was awesome, still brings a smile to my face

I'm sure Henry Kissinger can say the same for either having him as a coach or teacher while in grade school.

it wasn't misplaced. Ricky both knocked out Roberson and Nelson but I remember the Nelson hit more vividly.

Against whoever had the ball for 'bama on the goal line, causing the fumble that Billy Jackson recovered to preserve the greatest MSU football win in history...

Cheers,

that I remember one of Jackie's teams being beat physically. Usually, when we lost, it was a matter of talent. But Ricky Williams ran all over our guys that day.

Sure, it was a 15 yard "unsportsmanlike conduct" penalty, but they scraped the Texas PR off the turf that day. Plus we routed them (wasn't it 28-10?) that day, which was great considering a guy in my suite was a die-hard UT fan. Made the rest of the year enjoyable.

at the tail end of Eugene Clinton's return, right before he's forced out, John Hillard blindsides Adam Bettis. Check around the 2:10 mark.

I'm pretty sure he one everyone is talking about was when Brown came clean on a blitz from Couch's right. Couch never saw him coming, and Brown hit him right in the midsection. Couch folded up like a metal folding chair when Brown hit him. Absolutely monster lick.

I'll never forget being in the stadium that night. I think that was possibly the loudest I've ever heard DWS until Bama '07. That was undoubtedly the loudest.

-That was the first campus game since 1972. Anyone who was there could literally feel the electricity in the air. I was so jacked up before and during that game, the two guys I went with (old college buddies) refuse to sit by me anymore. The fans were jacked up, the players were jacked up, and when Keo laid out Luke, Scott Field exploded.

-OM had won three in a row, and had almost won the SEC in 1990. As usual, we had to hear "We's baa-aack tew beeun a Nashunal Pawr" and (a RockyReb favorite) "We's in th' Upper Echelon". That 1991 Egg Bowl shut that talk up and began a decade of Bulldog Dominance that only ended when the NCAA began their "investigations".

-Tommy Luke was more into baseball than football anyway. Keo turned him into a one-sport athlete.

1. Ashley could lay the wood.
2. Isn't it interesting how obsessed we are with hits? I guess it is a consequence of having some great defenses and never having an offense worth a damn.

That is all.</p>

I can't remember if it was on a kickoff or punt return but it was against Bama. The return guy was running down the east sideline with Bama's bench. Jeff Walker left his feet when he unloaded on him. Knocked him into the bench and I think it knocked the guy unconsious. I would love to see a replay of that hit.

That was the biggest ***** to ever play MLB for MSU. I saw scat backs run him over and then him drag them down by their ankles. Even my wife noticed how soft he played.

on a kickoff return in the Superdome. I doubt many people noticed because the hit was away from the ball at the time, but it was one the hardest licks I've ever seen.

I also saw him lay a guy out in the parking lot of the "The Bar Formerly Know as Cheers", circa 2003.
