Since when?

Yes, I know we beat a flawed team that didn't in any way resemble the '85 Bears.

That aside, this was inarguably a big win for the program. On several levels.

That fact was reflected in the atmosphere in the stadium Sat. night.

When was the last win that meant this much, overall, to the program?

2022 Iowa when Trey Palmer woke up pi$$ed off and took it out on the Hawkeye secondary. Kept Iowa out of conference championship game. Still today their fans cry about injuries that day….like Nebraska isn’t depleted by final game. Ok maybe this isn’t the biggest win in terms of the whole program because we knew change was coming. I’d say since beating Miami about 10 years ago.

IMO the win itself wasnt that HUGE. However, the way the game was dominated by the Huskers and most importantly the Defense is what was most THERAPEUTIC !

We’ve beaten better teams over the last few years, but this one means more considering the opponent, game timing, recruits in place, tv viewership, freshman QB, etc… Inferior team but still a huge win.

Great win but nobody thought it could be a program changer going or or coming out...all factors considered, ..."We're back and we're hear to stay" Clemson..... honesty thought at the time, we might have something cooking.

Honorable mention to Martinez carving up K State on a Thursday nite game if memory serves??? Maybe??? When Martinez was gettimg legitimate talk for Heisman votes and we thought things were trending up.

For those saying Oregon...did anyone think it was even close to a program changer? Really? Going into or after the game...you thought our trajectory was truly changing? I did not.

Back to the better Martinez, Taylor? That was ages ago. Might need to consider the 33-0 bowl game victory over Arizona. If I recall correctly Bo proclaimed we’re back after that. It did launch them to a higher level the next couple of years. Then we changed conferences, lost momentum and then have been astray ever since.

Kind of a tough question for me before knowing what it might mean for the rest of this season and future years. I hope it wasn't just one feel good win over an old conference foe and it's the start CFB relevancy again.

A lot a good answers posted prior to mine. It was a very unique & emotional game. I'm jealous of all who were there Saturday night.

How could this be bigger than that?

Colorado isn’t even rated and had has been a terrible program just like us lately..

We’ve had so many far and few I’d go with our new rival in the conference the Clarkeye win in 2022 felt like this one for myself..

Question was biggest since. That was the last one bigger than this I could think of (but 2016 Oregon and 2019 MSU were also felt pretty big at the time).

The question also wasn’t best team we have beat since. Yes, Iowa in 2022 was a better team, but that game didn’t mean much. We had a lame duck coach and we’re starting over again after that game. This one was a very anticipated game, with a huge audience that feels like it could be a springboard for our program.

This game was not big as far as ranked teams but make no mistake there were a lot of eyes nationally on this one. If we would have lost it would have been the same narrative as the last 8 years. We would have been laughing stock. Now we are getting some respect and are ranked.

On the flip side, it has pretty devastating nationally for the Colorado Buffalo program. Their star players were totally shut down. Keep an eye on their season but the loss psychologically could be as seismic for Colorado as 2001 NU vs CU was for Nebraska.

If that is the case under your scenario I would say the 2016 game against Oregon when we beat them being ranked in the top 25 and Riley best team started out 7-0..

Does this mean déjà vu?

Great option...i could be swayed into this...kinda forgot we started 7-0 but i do remember at the time thinking it was kinda fake....even i didnt buy it. If memory serves we gpt *** raped by OSU soon thereafter? National TV raping on primetime at that??

I hope so on the 7-0 part, not after that.

It could have been but it felt like we survived more than anything. I'd say 2015 Michigan St felt like it more so.

Not even close, that was a Mike Riley patty cake team that was weak mentally.

Banker was fixing the defense. We don't know what happens if Riley doesn't fire him for freaking Diaco
The problem with Riley & one of the issues with Frost were recruiting evaluations. A ton of highly rated players that never were great or weren't developed at all. Frost also couldn't keep them. So many misses on players that looked highly rated but had tons of flaws.
