Great content from Bill Busch. I should tune in more to his show/podcast. Really a good diagnosis of what plagued the defense this year. If your front line can’t hold up it affects every level beyond it.
If anyone gets a chance to have him come speak at a banquet/function or hear him give a talk it’s well worth your time.

Too depressed to listen. Did he figure out a reason why our entire team laid down in two games this year?

Watch it. It’s a sin if he’s not our new DC. The guy is already in town. No need to bring in any his buddies. Knows the players. Home run with the fans.
That would be a pull. Not really a splash hire but would be solid. If he could turn that pathetic 2022 defense around he could turn this one around. And I don't think we would ever worry about being out physicaled again.

Not saying never, because the guy love the program, but there are some hard feelings with Busch and how things ended last time. Not to mention age and being in and out of coaching for the past decade......He doesnt want to be on this staff or with this program right now. So just as well get this out of your head

I listened. God, hearing Benning talk about defense is super annoying. The term "run fit" can GTFO. Like Busch said, we're just not disruptive up front. Talking about "run fits" is loser talk for making defense sound like rocket science because you suck at it. It's not that complicated.

I hated our D alignment. Get 4 or 5 on the line and make the OL actually worry about something.

Benning in general is one of the most annoying guys in the Nebraska media.

I suspect Bill is genuinely enjoying his life not being a coach. Radio gig where he gets to have fun, traveling a bit to yack in front of a crowd, spending time with his relatively new wife. He coached for a good bit and probably has a nice savings. Why go back to a headache unless you are compelled to do so.

Money has a way about it to make those problems go away.

For sure.....but is this really such a perfect fit to throw money at? He has like 5 years of DC experience. His last solo show was in 2010. Hes been semi retired for essentially the entire playoff era of the sport.

He is a great ally of the program...and an absolutely terrible fit for this job and this staff in this moment.

I believe Bill is a good fit for just about everybody. He’s shown he can adapt to multiple situations and is a very likable bright guy. Demonstrated success in the job for which we’re hiring.

Should we hire T.O. to run the offense? Ron Brown should run the RB room?

I mean to each their own, but I think people just need to take a step back and take a second look at reality. We need an experienced, energetic, prime of his career, DC. That is the level of job this is and anything less is another failure....You cant just take someone who has been around the sport in a hundred different roles and a friend of the program, and wish him into being an elite playcaller.

He should at least be given strong consideration for a consultant position. But I highly doubt that he will be.

TO isn’t able anymore. Ron might be an upgrade as a RB coach. Busch has done the job successfully at a P4 program. Guess who our DC was the last time we beat Iowa.

Well I agree here. I wouldn't want him as DC, but position coach or analyst seem suitable.

I don’t care.
Im not trying to argue....but i am just completely baffled. For the most important hire of Rhules tenure. One that will probably dictate if he keeps his job past the next 2 years. Lets hire an old retired coach, with no ties to Rhule, with minimal DC experience and who currently has (rumored)beef with the program. That is pretty a rediculous take to be this vocal about and to have absolutely zero justification for other than "You like him"

First Busch isn’t that old. He’s been a terrific recruiter. He knows the landscape and players. He could step in easily. That said, it’s likely going to be a guy Rhule has personal ties to who nobody is expecting.
