It is his new sports/pop culture hodgepodge website. I've been looking forward to it, because I always like Simmons articles and the idea seems like something I will check almost daily. He has stated that he is looking more at quality than quantity when it comes to stories. They are not going to push 25 stories a day, instead focus on 3 or 4 interesting and well written pieces. I really hope this site succeeds. I like the idea, and I like the writers. Im rooting for them. The first day's stories show promise, especially the Klosterman article on the North Dakota Juco Basketball game.
Here is a LINK for those interested.

I liked what I read today. My biggest fear is that everything's going to be 4,000 word essays. I like TSG for short, funny stuff just as much. In other words, I don't expect many mailbags and I'm going to miss that. However, I really like Klosterman's writing (his books are quirky but good). I think all in all it'll be great, I just assume Page 2 type stuff is going to die, and that's a shame.

A lot of the writers are pretty heavy hitters (Simmons &Klosterman, Malcolm Gladwell and Dave Eggersare involved too) but I hope they won't get too pretentious (Eggers's involvement also means that Grantland and McSweeney's will be doing some things and while McSweeney's is good-- it can be too cute for its own good at times). I would not be surprised if Wright Thompson would have articles published via Grantland too.

I wouldn't be surprised if there are a lot more longer pieces. I get the impression that there's going to be an emphasis on that rather than instant feedback pieces.

I enjoyed his piece on his motivation for starting the site. Perhaps I am in the minority, but I enjoy long pieces by Simmons, Thompson and etc. I appreciate any website that allows writers to actually write.
