Was in Kansas this last summer traveling a very lonely highway on a week night and Snyder was doing a radio segment with a couple of local meatheads and that was the first time I really ever heard him speak at length. To be brutally honest, his age showed in that interview and I wondered how much longer he'd be coaching, like many others I know, but he was so cool to those guys who were really struggling to keep it interesting. Very cool dude who is one of the top 5 CFB coaches of all time in my book. Get well soon my man, I look forward to seeing you on the sideline again. Love that guy.

Get well Coach Snyder and get out of that hospital. Met him a few years ago at the airport in Denver, said hello. He saw I was wearing my Nebraska hat and asked where I was from, told him I lived in Denver but was heading elsewhere for a week. Very courteous and sincere person.

He was key to Iowa's turnound in the 1980's under Fry along with a ridiculous coaching staff. His turnaround at KSU might be the greatest coaching job of all time.

He is what we need more of in this country...humble, hard-working, unassuming, dedicated people who don't give a rip what others think about them and just go about being great at what they do every day.

I like the Luke Skywalker hairdo Bob Stoops has there.

I remember Tom Osborne and Bill Snyder did a commercial several years back for Snyder's charity. Two great men, but definitely not cut from the mold of smooth Hollywood pitchmen. But then, that's who they are - genuine.

Sounds like he will be ok though cancer is always a scary diagnosis.

If it's esophageal (which I'm assuming it is), i wouldn't say "he will be ok". Best case scenario 40% survivorship at 5 years and the overall at 5 years is 18%. I hope that's not what he was diagnosed with, but prayers to coach Snyder either way.
