A lot of opponents believe "Go....State" to be just about the lamest cheer they have ever heard. Perhaps Billy was poking fun?

"Go State!" is probably the only thing that I have ever heard anyone (other than MSU people) say positive about MSU athletics. The UT fans I know. They like it and commented such after the 98 SECCG.

I have been teased about that cheer for almost 25 years now, by fans from a wide variety of colleges both in and out of conference. Sometimes even by disinterested parties who just happen to be watching a game with me.

But I kinda like it, myself.

When I was 18, 19 years old, I thought it was kind of generic and lame. Since then, I've grown to appreciate the classic, traditional simplicity of the cheer. Plus, it beats the hell out of "marooooon - whiiiite" or "reeeed - bluuuue" I still hate the color cheers no matter what school is doing it.
