I might have to go to a Wahoo game this weekend before he gets called up.

... and from home to first in 3.1 seconds (Bo Jackson once made it in 3.2 seconds). This was before his knee injuries and beer took his skills.

The Swiss have been making some badass time keeping **** since the 1800s

1916 TAG Heuer created one of the most well-known stopwatches in history – the Micrograph capable of measuring time intervals in 1/100th of a second, the Micrograph set the trend for stopwatches

compared to the accuracy of the guy who presses the start and stop button, don't you?

Your right if there is a guy pressing the button. Doesn't the NFL combine and Nascar use some type of start/stop motion sensing timing devices?

I can absolutely, without a doubt guarantee you that nor Mickey Mantle or Bo Jackson ever actually ran a 3.1 or 3.2 to first base. Ichiro runs a 3.8 and he is running out of the box with no intention of hitting for power. Bo was right handed, and thus had further to run, and Mantle was trying to hit the ball 500 ft, and thus sitting back on his swing. Some scout had a very very quick trigger finger one day, and then further bent the truth to make it seem like he saw something that has never been seen in history. It is very very likely that Usain Bolt himself wouldn't run below a 3.6 or so.<div>

</div><div>By the way, Hamilton runs about a 3.85 to first base. <div>

I agreed with you. I'm just saying timing technology is a changing with the modern timing devices in the NFL and Nascar taking out the human punch the button factor.

A lot of it had to do with the fact the defense was all playing deep due to his power. But also because he had definite speed. Usain Bolt couldn't run fast from home to first, because his great strength is the last 50 meters or so in the 100 m dash, plus he's running straight all the time.<div>
</div><div>To get back to the original subject, it'll be fun to see Billy Hamilton in the major leagues, stretching routine singles into doubles. If I were his manager when he gets to the Reds, I'd have him running for doubles, stealing, getting caught in rundowns, etc. even if he didn't succeed- just to keep the pitchers and defense guessing.

At what the depth the outfield is playing is completely irrelevant to Mickey Mantle's home to first time.

No first or third baseman in their right mind is going to be playing in the grass when Mantle's up to bat.

But probably in relation of their speed to their respective defensive speed, Mantle had the advantage.<div>
</div><div>Saying Mickey is faster is like saying that Roger Bannister is the fastest man that's ever run the mile.</div>
