Yes. I don't think he will be a first round pick, but I think he will be a top 10 round pick, but I don't think it's really going to matter much because he is going to sign with MLB.

I don't have any stats, but he had a pretty good season for Taylorsville by all accounts- at the plate and on the mound.

how can it be so hard to find a kid like Hamilton's baseball stats? Not even the Clarion Ledger has it. Is that not there job?

It's also the coaches job to report it in to them.

Most high school websites basically have a roster and a schedule and that's it.

I think Jackson Prep has one of the best I've seen. They have stats, schedules, and results.

And it's not just a Mississippi thing, it's hard to find them for most teams.

As anyone who has been following my updating of the recruits on BDJs Recruit Page
Its very hard to find stats on high school players, and even JUCO players for the most part.

About only chance to find for baseball players is when they heading into the playoffs or such,
and the local newspaper does a preview of the series and the top players.

and... BTW... yes Hamilton is gone, he has stated no matter where he is drafted he is going.
No school for him.

Hamilton has shot up the draft projections as is considered a Top 50 high school player nationally.

why did we either bother wasting energy and efforts signing him. Usually a guy at least gives you the indication that he is open to the possibility of going to school to be worth actually signing him.

and if/when he quits baseball after getting tired of riding the bus to places like Quad Cities, Iowa, he can possibly come back to MSU and play football as a DB/WR/RB down the road

If he came to MSU, I'm not sure that he wouldn't focus on one or the other- football or baseball.

And as far as his attitude- You have to understand that he comes from a very disadvantaged family. I think that his biggest reason for playing baseball and going in the draft is to get the bonus money and give a lot of it to his family and take care of them. As much as I would love to have him on either the baseball or football team, I can't blame him for taking the route he is.

I assume he would no longer be obligated to us and could go whereever he wants. Is that the case or would his LOI to us still be binding?

Cliff Davis had to be released by Alabama to us after he quit minor league baseball. In the long run it never mattered. He was just another thing Ed Orgeron 17ed up.

Just saw where Billy is ranked the 98th prospect overall by Baseball America. For some reason I couldn't paste the link, but I'm not sure what round this puts him in, but I know it will probably get him drafted in the first 10 rounds like Todd said.

that Renfroe will sign? I'd have to think so with that ranking but stranger things have happened.

More than likely he will get drafted in the 2nd round, and if he gets well above slot money, he is most likely gone.

In 2007, the highest bonus given to a 2nd round player was 513K. Renfroe wants close to a million, which is sandwich round and first round money. I think he is more than likely gone, especially if a big market team drafts him in the 2nd round and gives him what he wants.

but Baseball America thinks he may be working a pre-draft deal. If he's in the first 50 picks, its going to be really tough to say no.

that signed, its astonishing. Nearly everyone signed. They usually either cave or get what they want. Dixon was a 10th rounder and got the $600K he wanted.
