I was expecting a closer game but Bird was in control throughout. The offensive line had another good game. I think that is the biggest improvement over last years team. The defense played lights out led by #24 Rayshard Ashby. He's a special player.
If they get past Herm next week, and HS beats Freeman..... they with get their toughest yet. The Springers have been fine tuning their well oiled machine as well! Whoever goes to the State Championship will have to go through Highland Springs first. This team is as good as last years Championship team!
5A is so competitive in Richmond its insane. I think all 3 could win state titles this year. I think whoever survives Richmond wins the title. Hermitage losing Woody Winborn was a HUGE loss. All 3 teams have been rolling the last 5-6 weeks. I knew HS would obliterate Deep Run. I was a bit surprised how dominate Bird was against Varina. I thought Varina would have a better showing.
HS will dominate Freeman. I was leaning towards Hermitage winning it all this year but with Winborn out now I don't know anymore. I think it will be Bird vs HS in the regional final.
Nitpicking, but that would be the 5A South semifinal. The final would be the following week vs. a team from 757.
Ok well to clarify... I think the Richmond 5A winner beats the 757 5A winner handily. I don't think Salem VB, Indian River, Hampton or Woodside can beat any of the three Richmond teams. IMO. We shall see though... Good luck to everyone.
You are right. I think Richmond's big "Big 3" are better better than any others in the state. The winner of that game will win State Title.
Actually its Hampton, Indian River, Salem-VB, and Norview. Norview might have the most talent out of all of them, but Hampton might have the most dynamic player in Daz Newsome.

You your right... I forgot about Norview and Woodside was D6. I do think Norview might win the 757 but I still don't think they can beat the Richmond 3.

Richmond area is way better than the 757 in 5A and that has always been the case. This is where realignment really helped the Richmond area out big time. Our 6A's are better down here.
And Lake Taylor is the other one. Ya'll beat them 27-14 we beat them 27-20
That was our 2nd game. We beat Hermitage 1st game.
HS is a very different team since the first 3 games of this season.
We have been averaging about 50 pts a game since the 8-7 loss to MBK in week 3.
