Post game comment by Cal regarding Allen.

“We were running stuff for Dontaie and he wouldn’t shoot the ball, and that’s why I took him out the one time. We ran two things for him and he had shots, he wouldn’t take them,” Calipari said. “I’m like, ‘look, you’re in there to make shots”
Since when has. Cal ever run a play for anybody, much less Allen? The right answer is never.

Seemed like it was pretty much knee-jerk Cal today. As soon as someone did something he didn’t like he subbed them out. Resulted in a lot of weird combinations

I don’t get it. What coach worth his salt doesn’t play the players that give his team the best chance to win the most. And I mean on any level from middle school on up. Time for answers to the bizarre sub patterns and bad lineups.

One that came here on false pretense. His job is not to coach but to manage these guys for the 9 months they’re here. Then he runs them thru certain sports agencies, specific endorsements, etc. he runs a shell game under the guise of Kentucky Basketball and I’m afraid we all bit and swallowed that hook. Looking back over the years, things have happened, things have been said, that all make sense now. Fox on that podcast spilled the beans. In our defense, we were ripe for pickin. Look at what was happening before with that drunken Chevy Chase Gillespie running around central Kentucky puking on every golf course.

It explains to me why in the game against Wisconsin in 2015 when Ulis and Booker were the obvious better choice in the game, he stuck with the Harrison twins. No disrespect to them but when you are on the cusp of the greatest season in the history of the game, you have to go with the hot hand. Demarcus Cousins wanted to return for his sophomore year but was told no. There have been other instances, other seasons where we as fans has sat in our recliners screaming at the TV wondering why this guy or that guy wasn’t playing more. Fox said that after the UCLA game that he specifically told them that they would never play another game of college basketball. Was he looking out for their best interest or was he looking out for his own wallet. Look at some of the guys that have left here, Wenyen Gabriel was villainized for making comments. Fast forward to this year. With the situation being what it was, we start off the season 1-6, sitting here wondering wtf is going on? Players or should I say player, getting undeserved playing time in an attempt to showcase his skills. It backfired in every way. Since the emergence of Dontae Allen forced his hand, he had to play him to quell a fan riot. The result? A 3 game winning streak. Today when the situation was obvious again, he leaves a kid in the game that is just plain awful. No offense to him, he’s just a pawn in the shell game. Cal has to play him, to get him the exposure he needs so that he can get that lottery pick money and Cal gets his kickback.

So, to summarize, with Calipari, it was never about winning titles. It was all a ruse to get certain players showcased at the expense of the deserving players and the loyal fanbase. So, no, he’s not a great coach, he’s a ringmaster. He conned all of us. Probably cost us 3 championships in doing it. There it is, all laid out for you. To all you sunshine pumpers, it’s time to call him out. And it’s time for him to go. I don’t care if we ever send another player to the pros as long as we recruit players that come here to win titles.

I said this in another thread but I’ll say it here too, because it fits.

I actually had the thought today “okay, this guy is seriously just f*cking with us all now.”

There’s just no plausible explanation for Allen sitting nearly the first 7 minutes of the 2nd half and only getting 23 minutes total, with Boston out there with as many turnovers as points.

LMAO. It all makes sense now. Cal wants someone to chuck shots. Boston is great at that.

He only signs elite wing forwards once every five years and he doesn't want to be known as the coach who can't produce at that position when he actually lands them.

That's my genuine guess. He's coaching on a politically correct level. Got to give Boston his minutes.

Maybe that's it.

Not arguing with you, but with that philosophy if that is indeed why Cal is doing it:

What do you think if you're Allen/Ware/Fletcher or future 4 star recruits: One guy has clearly earned minutes and one guy has clearly earned the bench. But Cal refuses to do what the entire world can see needs to be done.

And if Boston and Clarke and Sarr are gone--you're still going to ride the bench behind the new recruits. That's the message Cal is confirming.

Look at the box scores of our 12 games this year. Boston’s stats for almost every game are basically the same. And again, I don’t want to disparage the kid. He’s been setup by what’s supposed to be people who care about him, but in reality they use him like a pimp does his hoes.
I know I’ve seen all I need to see.

Great points. These players know for all of Cal's yapping about "nothing given", he gives minutes to the elite recruits because he is so obsessed with his NBA credibility and landing the next elite prospect.

God only knows how many games it has cost us over the years, and possibly even a title here or there. Scary stuff. Cal's ship is taking on too much water right now.

Guys who Cal could have convinced to come back for another year:

Cousins
MKG
Knight
Vanderbilt
Dakari Johnson
Teague
SGA
Knox

All of these guys were toying with the idea of returning and Cal pushed them all out.

The program comes second for Calipari. It's all NBA street cred, and he isn't even getting the best players anymore.

Basketball has became like baseball and the people ahead of the curve are playing the stats. Offense works better putting five players out there that can play beyond the three point line. The days of playing two bigs on the blocks are over. We are one of the few teams still trying to play old school basketball. The plus minus between Allen and Boston tonight was pretty significant. Maybe playing them together and removing a big would help both of them.

It’s enough to make me wanna puke. Now that the cat is out of the bag, it’s imperative that we move on after this season. Longer we wait, the longer the road back will take.

Dakari Johnson and Teague really hurt.

We avoid the NIT and are probably contenders with Teague in 2013.

Johnson would have been the missing piece on that 2016 team. That team was a decent big man away from being a contender.

Askew, Mints, Allen, Brooks and Toppin. Ware and Boston in limited time off bench. Clarke takes Bostons place when he comes back.

That should be rotation.

Bump .. it’s criminal what he did to Allen , and also Sarr yesterday .. he gave us very little chance To win a game that was easily winnable
