Tobia$ left the team/school.
Ward can't seem to get cleared by the NCAA.
DT Shackleford out for the year.
Collins Moore out for the year.
Mackey stuttering at RB.
QB's throwing up INT's like Henig in their scrimmages.
The Spirit crowd saying it's gonna be a long year.
Freshmen playing all across the field.
Paper thin D-line and O-line.
5-star South Panola kid probably has the Rebs 3rd behind Bama and MSU.

and it's easy to see that we are. We really need to turn in a 9-10 win season this year and keep our coaches, while they suck yet again. If they lose another Mississippi recruiting class to us, they'll literally be 4 years behind us as a program. Biggest gap in a long, long time.

Only thing I try to compare it to is the end of Jackie beginning of Croom era for us. In my lifetime, I honestly cannot remember Ole Miss in worse shape than they are now. I would love the take of anyone 35+ who really remembers what they were like when Tuberville took over. Is this comparable or worse?

first off, Tuberville had a far better resume to be a head coach. He was easily one of the best candidates in America at that time. And no, they were not nearly this bad in 1995.

It's funny that their former head coach will continue to screw them over the next few years, because if any team needed the ability to oversign, it's Ole Miss.

They kind of put all their eggs into getting Peyton Manning. Ole Miss used to be an option team and they changed their entire scheme for Peyton and when he ditched them, they through the biggest pre-Internet recruiting meltdown up until that point. It was enjoyable for me at high school.

What was fubared about it was Brewer was let go in July or something and Joe Lee Dunn of all people was the head coach for the season. It was a lame duck staff.

Tuberville was the DC at Texas A&M the year before he took the Ole Miss job. A&M went 10-0-1 with him as DC and they were on probation that year as well. It was somewhat like us hiring Dan to be honest with you.

The other thing is we had three out of four winning seasons under Jackie, but then we had two losing seasons. So, the gap between them and us then wasn't as big as it is now. Jackie also focused really heavy on JUCO's around that time, and I think it may have helped Ole Miss somewhat with high school kids and USM as well to a degree.

..Houston Nutt did this to them.

For a non-probation scenario, Nutt left behind one of the biggest messes in the modern era of college football.

When Brewer brought in the new OC and completely changed the offense he was quoted in the paper saying that this was the offense he'd always wanted to run since he got to Mississippi. I remember thinking, "Good Lord you've been there for 10 years and you're just now getting around to running the offense you've always wanted to run?" Had a co-worker at the time who was a huge Bear fan and had some inside contacts with the staff. Right up till the very end Brewer was convinced he had Peyton. I've never seen a more depressed man in my life than when he signed with UT. He kept saying, "I just can't believe that Archie let him go to Tennessee of all places. After all the fun they made of him."

was so funny about the hog/nafoom war over the last few years; The hogs came over there and warned of Nutt. Then the nafoomers called them crazy-backwoods yokels and made fun of them non-stop. Then when the hogs defended themselves, the nafoomers acted like they were crazy. Turns out, the hogs were right and the nafoomers were wrong (imagine that). Hilarious.

I'm thinking that was Bo Jackson catching some Z's in a throttling of dear ol' State in 1986.
