First off, I think it's pretty sad when your rival has to misinterpret the definition of a word in order to make themselves feel better about themselves in regards to their standing in this state. Secondly, in regards to the definition of "flagship University" TSUN is in fact a "Flagship" university. They are the flagship university of the University of Mississippi system. Mississippi State is also a flagship university since we have the Meridian campus and some other annexes. It's the same with Texas A&M and Texas, both are flagships. Again, that group is really grasping for straws and its kind of embarrassing. However, it got me thinking of what Flagships schools continually get their *** whipped by the non flagship school in their state? Again, per the definition, Virginia/ Virginia Tech and Michigan/ Michigan State are not accepted since all school are Flagships of their own respective systems.

Wow, I kinda thought someone would say that. Is it illegal here to discuss that here? My point has nothing to do with State vs OM, but more in the sense that it's an uneducated comment per the definition of the word. I could honestly careless what they call themselves because it has nothing to do with us. Just pointing out how it's makes no sense what they are saying.

What non-flagship campuses routinely beat their flagship counterpart? The first thing that comes to mind for me is the University of California university system. Are UCLA and Cal-Berkley technically in the same university system? If so, there's one.

it doesnt bother me at all. It actually makes me laugh. Its such a contradiction for them to claim to be the "flagship" its humorous (in state enrollment*). Its kinda like when a fat girl says something like this, "I know Im fine." Outside of possibly beating us in the upcoming egg bowl there is nothing that the university of Mississippi or its fan base can do to bother me

In the context of public universities, you really aren't going to find an agreed-upon definition. Generally, it refers to either the oldest or most funded public University in the State, but I'm sure you can still debate that. They have us beat in the age department and I assume we are similarly funded outside of research dollars. I have no problem with him referring to themselves as a flagship, they could make an easy argument in terms of age and the fact they are one of the 2 highest supported Universities in the State.

If he's using the term in a context that they more superior than MSU in terms of funding/reputation, I'd say he's wrong, but still don't care because he's doing his job and trying to talk his school up.

If you think about it, UCLA's colors and mascot are clearlyderived from Cal's. Navy blue & gold - Light blue & gold. Bears - Bruins.

It's just silly marketing. Whatever.

And yes they are misrepresenting the term flagship.OM is the flagship in relation to sayOM at Tupelo. Other than that we are all technically under the direction of the Mississippi IHL.

then by all means let them. Any thing that adds to their arrogance is a good thing if you ask me.

good for him. But that is no where near the reaction that "The School Up North" elicits from the bad guys, even now (4-years later). I could care less what the hell they refer to themselves as. We own that *** in pretty much every sport and they know it. That is all that matters. If The Borg was smart he'd belay the smack talk until OM actually won a game or two against the Starship (in any 17'n sport)...

The administration isn't using the term "Flagship" to get under your skins. They're saying it because our fanbase likes it. Same with your administration... Y'all aren't saying "TSUN" soley to get a reaction out of us. They say it because your fanbase likes it. But yeah big surprise there is less of an "uproar" when our AD calls our university the Flagship compared to your HC not calling our school by name and giving them an acronym

The ****** effeminate MState banner.
The LuVel crane sponsorship.
The Mize Foundation emblazoned on the crane.
1941 in the call sign
USS Cowbell

Would be difficult to insert a pee pee crxxms that could be found, so I'm just going to imagine that his incompetent *** is running the crane.

Nice work.
