Would think if there was going to be a blackout it would be on Saturday when NU is wearing these horrific uniforms.

I've never been to a game where they try a black out, but on TV it always looks funny. Only b/c not everyone participates. Student section looks cool, but it's always kind of spotty throughout the rest of the stadium.

Blackouts will never work fully here. The old traditionalists wont do it. Heck many hate the alt uniforms that are worn once a year because it, "breaks from tradition" 1 word for you die hard traditionalists, BUGEATERS

I was going to say the same thing. Stuff like this is very touchy for the traditionalists.

The problem isn't the alternate uniforms... Your not going to find 90,000 fans wanting to buy something black when it isn't even one of our school colors and how often would you wear it.

I think people could find something black to wear, they just don't want to. I really think that's what it is. And that's OK. We've failed at trying it enough times that I'm fine with it just staying the "Sea of Red." I noticed that iowa rented a page in their newspaper for their game, and it showed which section was supposed to wear which color. It gave them that cool stripe effect. I think NU would have a better chance at pulling off a white out. But not that the cold weather is coming all bets will be off for anything like this. IMO anyway.

All's I have is a blackshirt's hoodie with a skull and bones that bought when I went to Madison in 2011, other wise every thing I own is over 90% red.

I agree. We should definitely go back to being the Bugeaters!
Also, "Sea of Scarlet" and a "Cream Out".

Of course it would never work on the regular fan base. It is however a good way to get the student section into the games. There was a time in the late 80's and early 90's when you wouldn't always fill the student section. Anybody complaining about gimmicks needs to turn in their cornheads.

can live with it---i don't mind'em --------for one game.

i like these better than the ones they wore against wisconsin.

You buy Red and White crap, and neither are school colors. I can't believe young punks like yourself do that! It's not tradition!!!!

I really don't have a problem with changing "tradition" since most people didn't even start wearing team colors to games until the mid-60's. The N on our helmet has only been there since about 1970. I just have a problem with the blackouts because they look like crap, both on tv and in person. I have a black jacket I could wear but the Sea of Red looks 1000% better.
