Blake Shapen didn't meet the minimum passing attempts to qualify, but if you plug his numbers into the passer stats from 2024 he's in the top 10 in a number of key stats.

Completion% - 68.5 (10th)
TD% - 7.4 (11th)
INT% - 0.9 (3rd)
Yd/Att - 9.0 (tied 6th)
Adj. Yd/Att - 10.08 (tied 4th)
Yd/Catch - 13.2 (tied 22nd)
Yd/Gm - 243.5 (32nd)
Pass Eff. - 166.9 (6th)

I looked because ESPN had him in the 11th tier for 2025 QBs (in front of only Calzada at UK in the SEC) and it seemed low. He has tools to run the offense but keeping him of the injury list is the key to the season.

Maybe game 1, maybe game 2, but definitely out for the year with injury by game 3.

Shapen will get injured again in the first half of the season. Kamario Taylor will come in and show good promise. Then a bigger blue blood school will come in and offer him more money and he’ll transfer. Then Lebby will recruit and sign another high school 4 star and everyone will be excited again.

This would not happen. I swear some of you people need to understand we are not poor ol state of the 80s and 90s. We lost one player last year that we wanted to keep and the only reason he left was he wanted to go back home. That was Coleman who went to Mizz and we had the better offer

We wanted to keep Brice Pollock as well. Craver was a headache and MVB was easily replaced.

If you rank current sec Nil funds 1 through 16, I don’t think you are being realistic.

Just because you don’t believe we are middle of the pack doesn’t mean it’s not true. I think you and others would be surprised at where we are. We have made tremendous strides no thanks to you and others
We are not middle of the pack in NIL......

It’s just the #’s we will always have lowest NIL bc we have smallest town, alumni base, and least $ of any SEC school. It’s not subjective at all. And if we do have this magic treasure chest you speak of why does it not work?

Tell me where it’s not working? Have you not paid any attention to what we are doing? We have a top 25 HS/JUCO class and top 20 portal class in football. This coming off a 2-10 season… you think they came for free? We have the number 6th rated HS class in MBB.
In the fall of 23 we were way behind with NIl. When Lebby was hired we didn’t have the time nor resources to make waves in the portal. We made due with what we have but the hole thst was left after Leach and ZA was to great..So much leg work in the portal is done before the season ends. And with only three weeks to recruit and hire a staff it was just too little w late. A plan was put into place in 24/25 to raise our NIL funds. We have done that we have exceed what our expectations were. We are in a very very competitive place with our NIL. As always more would be great, but this idea we are poor or we can’t do this or that are no more. I think you all will see the progress this fall.

Ok, so we have all the nil money we need , we just can’t overcome the massive damage Mike leach caused three years ago before he died.
You talk about a bullish!T story.

In the limited amount Ive watched Shapen play, he looks like an average SEC quaterback - which is pretty good. If we get a full season out of him, the numbers may not look that way but it could very well not be his fault.

You are one misinformed individual..
So let’s unpack this a little since you say it’s BS. I mean since Lebby took over half the players that have transferred out of the program have gone to FCS or G5. Which means they transfered down 98% of those players were signed by Leach and ZA staff. Leach passed away in 2022, meaning the classes he signed majority transferred out or were just not good enough to play at this level. Those players should have been ones contributing in 24..ZA one class hardly has anyone left from it. Again another hole in the roster. Here’s another fact, Leach Emerick Dudek, and ZA signed zero players while at state that were drafted, zero. The talent that was drafted while they were here were signed by Moorehead. Yet we were supposed to win last year…
Another point, Leach and Cohen were staunchly anti NIL while our rival’s embraced it. This started to put us further behind. Braky wasn’t any help either in his three months on the job. Selmon and Charlie have done a tremendous job getting us where we are now but we had a ton of holes to fill. This class we signed in Dec is really lebbys first class with a full deck so to speak. So you say it’s BS but I just laid out the cold hard facts. I hate leach passed but his recruiting and staff along with ZA and staff recruiting were the main reason we were so bad in 2024. 2025 and beyond is now all Lebby. So let’s judge him by this year and not last year

That is great, where do we rank in the SEC though since that is who we play

No, we are not...
You clearly have zero clue what we have done to increase our NIL. We are very much in the middle of the pack with funding. Just because you assume we don’t have money doesn’t make it true. Hell I bet you and most in this board don’t give a dime y’all just b!tch and call Selmon and Lebby out cause it’s “sixpack cool” to be negative without understanding the **** show both inherited

I am being serious. If we are middle of the pack as you say and claim to know, please post the numbers showing that.

No. Youre confused. We have done a TON to increase our NIL budget. Its MUCH larger than it was. But that doesnt put us in the middle of the pack…. Both statements can be true

Anyone scan this and see it ending in "T story" and wonder,

1. Is there an MSU athlete story I haven't heard about?

2. Am I in the right forum?

🤣

I'm not him, but if I were him I would tell you to 17 off and go find the numbers yourself. Why would he help you do that?

Yeah, let's try to find something negative in the numbers so everyone knows how defeated State fans should stay. The low self-esteem on this board is troubling sometimes.

Well, he is the one who keeps telling everyone that we are mid pack, not at the bottom, so an adult would actually show some facts proving his claims, but you be you.

Okay, but on the other hand, you're asking for something that literally no university wants out publicly. Granted SOME universities with tiny pecker syndrome put out false (mostly inflated) numbers as a bragging point, but that's obviously not Mississippi State's M.O.

My contention is that (a) no one puts out the real numbers, because why would they; and (b) even if he knows the exact right numbers, what good would it do for Bulldawg77 to put it out on this forum, because even it was the accurate numbers, no one would believe him and then some posters would try to pick it apart and find some negatives anyway. Oh, and the school might not appreciate it.

Well, if no one puts out any or real numbers, how does he know where we stand? If he has the accurate numbers, he could post them and those of us who chose to believe him would and that is why I asked since he implied that he does know the accurate numbers. As far I can recall, he never said that he worked for MSU and had been told that the numbers were hush hush, triple naught spy info.

Good lord people. It's not hard to see where we stand with NIL. Just look at how many 4 & 5 * players we sign and the number of 3* players we sign and compare that to the rest of the SEC. Hint: It's not good.
