That's a good recipe for giving up 45 points.

What you do is take away the run and bring pressure strategically. You let their true freshman QB try to beat you. They don't have the weapons they've had in the past.

Most of the big plays we've given up this year have come when we brought the blitz.

Because he blitzed a lot. We have very good CBs but our safeties have given up the big plays so far this year. When we blitz we better have the man on man coverage figured out or they will score big on us. I think they will come in planning to ram the ball down our throat by establishing the run early. We better fill gaps and make sure tackles early in the game. Otherwise, it will be a long day.

I mean Zach Arnett is our defensive coordinator, we’re for sure going to blitz a fair amount. But I agree with Drebin that the key is containing Robinson in the run game. If he has the kind of day he had against Ole Miss, it doesn’t matter how much pass rush we get.

I know we beat A&M, but the missed arm-tackles in that game were atrocious. It seemed like every ball carrier gained at least 3-5 yards after first contact.

When we blitzed everyone just threw the ball to the left side of their offense and burned us. Our right side defensive secondary was porous. He peaked in 1999 when he had Bean and Smoot!

Its not like the 2000 defense was great. They gave up a lot of points. His scheme was incredibly elementary.
