Hope we put up a good showing tonight. I am curious if UK gives Hazelwood another week in the midweek or if they decide to go ahead and throw someone else and move Hazelwood to the weekends.

Hope it's Hazelwood.
Slugger and Comebak, What's our chance of winning this one? Are Cards a good hitting team?

Louisville is 22-6 with 5 of their 6 losses coming against top 50 RPI teams (UConn 2, Xavier, and Ga. Tech 2). Their most impressive wins were taking two from Ole Miss during the midweek.

I don't think they are a great hitting team by any means. They have a strength of schedule of 33 (UK is at 35) and they hit .260 as a team (UK at .258). So, those numbers don't really wow you, especially given that we consider UK to be struggling at the plate. However, opponents hit just .201 against them (UK is .238) and they have a team ERA of 2.82 (UK 4.71). They have just one main starter hitting over .300 but have two bench guys who play regularly who have high averages. Other than UK having about 75 more strikeouts and twice the HBPs, the numbers are actually pretty similar. UK also has 11 more home runs (19 to 30), and UK has a few more extra base hits, but 2 fewer overall hits.

I am guessing that UK faces Luke Smith, a junior right hander with a 3.66 ERA with 29 hits in 32 innings with 20 strikeouts and 11 walks. He is a JUCO transfer for them and has not thrown more than 6 innings in a game this season, so UK could get to the pen on him if they hit him (he has a batting average against of .248), but the pen might not be any easier to get by than he is.

I'm probably in the minority but I like what I saw vs UGA this past weekend. A road dub vs the Fraudinals tonight can jump start you and get you going in the right direction. I'm a half glass full guy, so I'm always trying to look for the positives.

What! They only have one camera in Louisville? We appeal the call at first and they don't have a single view of the actual play at first.

IF Missouri had any thoughts of taking over our lead trailing fielding rate, we've tacked on two more errors this game. I can't see Missouri overtaking us.

We are pretty bad this year - hopefully Coach has a plan - if we don’t make tourney next year - which would be 3 in a row - would we not need to look elsewhere- I like the guy but not making it last year with that many pros and being this bad this year - something has to give

Sounds like we are going to use all the bullpen again. Our guys are all going to break records for number of appearances.

At most he gets 2 years after this one. And he's living off year 1.

8-2 and only 1 earned run. At least our team ERA isn't taking a hit. We have 3 errors already. No way is Missouri catching us this week. I wish we would settle in on more consistent position players. It could be contributing to the fielding problems.

Trae Harmon replaces Kessler. Rightie for leftie I get, but Harmon is batting 000.

Strike three called to end the game. That kind of represents the season so far.

I agree with you up to a point. I thought we got robbed ast year. In my opinion we should have been in the tournament. But I hear what you are saying and I agree with you. You can’t let the program slip for several years or it will be very difficult to recover.

This team is headed for the worst season since some of the early Madison years. They have guys playing out of position and that has led to 37 errors in 29 games last in the SEC. THey have also given away 34 unearned runs in 29 games. Tonight, it came to a pitiful conclusion by our coaching staff as he took down Shelby and Kessler in the 8th inning while he let Reed bat vs Louisville's relief ace. Mingione is hung up on a righty-lefty game but he took down our two best hitters and pinch hit Harmon and Maccioocchi both hitless on the season and both struck out with the bases loaded. Just Dumb!

His late game decisions in the last two games almost make you question whether he is a really trying to win. Just crazy.

Outside of a miracle we are finishing well below .500 this new and in last place in the SEC race. Thompson is gone for sure , but I can't see anybody else getting a sniff in the draft. We will not have a returning pitcher that looks like a reliable weekend pitcher . I don't know when I've seen such pathetic fielding from a major college team and just horrible basic fundamentals. The coaches don't have much to work with , but they arevthevreason these guys are here so that is on them.
Tonight's game was a perfect example as we lost the game 8-3 with 6 unearned runs and only 7 hits by U6...the staff has a ton of work to do before the end of next season or they should be on the HOT seat.
