on his board claiming that Long has indeed committed to us and currently also holds offers from Oklahoma, Tennessee and Tulane. Have no idea if that's legit but apparently he is a late bloomer who grew 2 inches over the past season and interest in him really picked up late from several schools.

He was 6'2" when he started high school and is now 6'9"-6'10". Considering the amount of publicity kids are already getting in 9th grade, it's conceivable that he went under the radar while he was growing, especially if the last few inches have come recently. Scottie Pippen was a kid like that, though his growth spurt came in college, and Anthony Davis similarly went from a small, unknown PG to one of the top players in the country by growing 7 inches.<div>
</div><div>Regardless, I don't worry about kids like this. It seems the kids we sign that everyone rolls their eyes at are almost always better than expected. It's the kids everybody wants that we seem to have less luck on.</div>

he also only played one year of AAU which is where it's at as far as being recognized. There were apparently several big name teams coming on late.

That's what big name teams do late in the spring...they see where their holes are and start offering to the best of the rest.
That doesn't mean much, usually.
