But I don't see why everyone has a hard-on over the old MSU logo. Let it go. It wasn't that great. I really think in this case the university has done a good job.

I think the sentimentalty attached to the logo is not so much that it is that appealing (if you stop to think about it's not) but it is identified with our most successful era in FB. Time to let it go.

taking the UM "M" and putting a flag and state on it was original. I like it for basketball and letterheads, but it SUX for baseball or football.

WTF do we have to have "one" official logo? I mean damn, florida, lsu and auburn to name a few have a minimum of THREE. One for each F'n sport.

Hanging on to a seriously dated logo is like handing out scholarships to friends of the Felker family.
Leave both of those things in the past.

Our natural exposure is far less than many other teams. We are trying to market our university to prospective students, recruits, and anyone else who will listen. If a random person in Montana tunes in to a football game and sees one logo on our helmets, happens to surf over to the university website and sees another, and sees a sticker on someone else's car with yet another, to him it's three different schools. If he sees the same logo all three times, he might start to connect the dots of who Mississippi State is and what it's all about.

That is a stupid example, but it is valid. If we have a limited number of chances to put "Mississippi State" in front of the world, doesn't it make sense to put it in front of the world in the same way every time? M-State is not perfect, but it's ours. It's more identifiable than MSU. For 12 years now, the M with the "STATE" banner has increasingly been a part of what represents our university to the outside world. We have invested significantly in M-State. Why would we throw that away?

As I have pointed out before, interlocking MSU looks pretty good on one side of the helmet, but it looks stupid on the other side. All of the renderings that y'all are doing are only showing one side.

M-State is symmetrical and looks the same on each side of the helmet. The maroon outlined M-State on maroon helmets gets a B+ in my book, and that's good enough for me, especially considering the need to maintain continuity in our university's marketing.

Drop it, please. For the love of God, drop it.

its that the bastards spend all that time and money for that. I mean seriously, how hard is it to get some input from alumni and fans that will do **** for FREE.

I really really at the end of the day dont give a ****, but the helmet we have been wearing for the last 5 years is one of the worst in football. That said, all of these new ones with the new "logos" look 10 times better and some are actually growing on me...I just dont understand why it is such a big deal to have "one" logo. There will still be 100's of different ones on clothes and hats from STATE, to MS, to MSU, to Dawgs, to Miss State, to pictures of dogs, to every damn thing else. Hell, they even show like 10 different ones. It is just ridiculous to me. Use the one below for our damn offical ****...

The new logo is barely different than the old one for the love of Pete. The logo topic may be an all-time SPS record for the most beaten to death topic.

....but the interlocking MSU he came up with is NOT an improvement over the previous one. All things considered, I don't mind the logo they've been showing on the new helmet. It looks a lot sharper.

I didn't make the interlocking logo to look "better" than any other logo. Just simply showing that one could easily be made with slight differences to the Nike logo as to not get sued.

/thanks to all who liked the logo
//no free tickets for me and mrs. bmt

I've wanted to see the return of the interlocking, but I realize we're witnessing logo fatigue.

I've officially reached the point of "get this **** decided and make it go away."

but I'm going to nitpick. While changes were made, your version wasn't far enough away to not get sued by Nike. It would have to be much more dramatic than what you presented. Bottom line, to everyone bitching about what we should do, there are a thousand things to consider and take into account when you're looking to brand a product. How it looks on the helmet is so far down the list, it isn't even funny. Now if you want to raise the question of whether or not State needs to rebrand is fine. There really wasn't a solid brand identity system in place before, so this is welcomed by me. Even though I think it should be tied down tighter than it is.

That is THREE different ones for each sport. The F for baseball, gators for football and the picture of the gator for basketball. Sound like our MS, MSTATE and MSU? There reason is ******** is all im saying.

I steadfastly disagree with those championing the new M-State Scroll logo. It is a terrible design and took little imagination. The redesigned logo looks somewhat better but is still not universally loved. Mississippi State has had better looking logos in the past, and while we are on the subject please tell me just what is wrong with 'reliving the glory days of fb' with the interlocking M-S-U logo? That is a silly argument.

in my post. I guess we've different logos for each sport too. M-State for football. Mississippi State across the chest for basketball and MS for baseball.

Like I said I prefer the MSU for football.

By the way, the whole logo change initiative was started by Fogelsong. Why it was carried out when he left, I guess we'll never know.
