I do not believe we are as we already have elite guys at his weight. If we are they are keeping it VERY quiet.Has anyone heard anything about us and Bo? Are we actively recruiting him? Is there genuine mutual interest?

If we are an option, it’s very quiet."This" what? This, that we have elite guys at the weight already? We know that. Or, this, that OSU is keepino it very quiet that we are actively recruiting him?
In my opinion, it has a lot to do with the uncertain climate. Lots of things recently changed and deloit is going to have a major say on compensation. He’s been uncharacteristically quiet on the re-recruitment. Can’t decide if it’s to let the hubbub around his decommitment from Iowa die down, a new social media strategy, or if the “big” schools have cooled on him a bit (maybe the dad has become a pain?)
He is still a very high value kid. At 100%, he is a minimum 4x AA most likely. Any school would want that.
His dad may not impact a lot of things but if you have a parent that is upset and bad mouthing the staff or team, it would affect recruitment, especially since Bo is such well known commodity. I can see some coaches saying, "he isn't worth as much as we originally thought" and the dad trying to regroup and get more money etc...In my opinion, it has a lot to do with the uncertain climate. Also, with a year left of HS, his continued training is very important and I’m sure that is being weighed big time.
I would add, his Dad is a driver and it might deter some, but I doubt it’s a major problem with seasoned coaches. *if you think for one minute a Dad is going to tell a coach what to do at a school that wants to win, you’re not being totally honest with yourself. Their job is to win (among other things that are super important) and Bill won’t impact many decisions.
The more money ship has sailed…those days are gone, for now.His dad may not impact a lot of things but if you have a parent that is upset and bad mouthing the staff or team, it would affect recruitment, especially since Bo is such well known commodity. Then again, I could be totally wrong since all my info comes from message boards and most people on here do not know anything - except Oberebo, of course!!
I can buy this to a point Chase. Mistakes have been made but if the Bassetts right the ship all will be okay. I don't believe his recruitment can't be solved given his talent. The more money ship has sailed…those days are gone, for now.
I can’t see negative recruiting from them working that well, if they were the type of people to do it. Which I don’t think they are?
It really has to be just a long look at options.
Not a single person in the history of ever has fumbled the bag more than bill bassettI can buy this to a point Chase. Mistakes have been made but if the Bassetts right the ship all will be okay. I don't believe his recruitment can't be solved given his talent.
Well, that’s an entirely different discussion.I can buy this to a point Chase. Mistakes have been made but if the Bassetts right the ship all will be okay. I don't believe his recruitment can't be solved given his talent.

The money ship has sailed, unless it’s a pirate ship.
As far as his recruiting situation, that’s lost at sea for now.
This is the complete opposite of how I view it; we can't be afraid of decommitting it will absolutely happen no matter what and it's not necessarily a bad thing as that would mean we have too many good kids (which isn't actually a problem). We should be stacking the deck with absolute blue-chip recruits and let them figure it all out, and yes, some will leave. We can't stop recruiting a weight if there is an impact kid out there just because we feel that we have that weight set. Competition is a good thing, and no one should feel comfortable IMOI am not sure where Bo fits at OSU? We have elite guys all around his weight and if you sign him, you run the risk of others decommitting. That might also affect recruiting in the long run with people being worried about over recruiting.
Ryder was told they were not recruiting Welsh and the next day he shows up on PSU campus.
Ryder now a cowboy.
With a 30 person team eventually coming- realizing this is not impacting this class, we are going to have to be strategic or we won’t have any spots for the following years. I think being honest with the athletes should be a priority- telling the athletes we are not recruiting someone then having them show up will not help loyalty. This is the complete opposite of how I view it; we can't be afraid of decommitting it will absolutely happen no matter what and it's not necessarily a bad thing as that would mean we have too many good kids (which isn't actually a problem). Honesty seems more important than specific recruiting strategy. Just be real with the athletes. Nobody’s afraid of competition, but at the same time it’s not cool to lie to the team about it.With a 30 person team eventually coming- realizing this is not impacting this class, we are going to have to be strategic or we won’t have any spots for the following years. I don’t think it’s a matter of replacing good with better though. There’s a solid chance the kids we have may pass Bo fairly quickly. Very few kids are as maxed out as Bo is already. This is the complete opposite of how I view it; we can't be afraid of decommitting it will absolutely happen no matter what and it's not necessarily a bad thing as that would mean we have too many good kids (which isn't actually a problem). This is true, our recruits definitely seem to be on the upswing. Melvin on the other hand, has room to grow and is already a beast. Keegan seems to be really improving as well.I don’t think it’s a matter of replacing good with better though. There’s a solid chance the kids we have may pass Bo fairly quickly. Yes, but don’t forget about the mind in Wrestling also.People get too caught up on rankings and wins as sophomores and juniors imo. This time last year it seemed that Bo was squarely ahead of Jax and everyone else. Now Jax has blown past him and there are multiple kids who’ve crept closer and closer. Hell look at the champs from this last year… a ton of guys who had alot of ground to make up. And I know they’re extreme cases but Mesenbrink DNP’d at Fargo as a Sr and Vince Robinson never won state. Then there is Keck
And don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to hate on the kid. He’s a tremendous prospect but he is a very old high schooler and he’s had elite training both physically and technically for along time. I think he is who he is.
Don't be fooled by Vince Robinson never winning state. He had some real studs in his weight in Illinois. It was one of those things where he had top 5 ranked kids in the country in his weight. He was always a stud and when he got to college - he just passed up some of the guys ahead of him.People get too caught up on rankings and wins as sophomores and juniors imo. You're asking how are 7 US states doing economically and socially? You could spend an entire career researching and writing a response to that question and still not answer it fully....question the Ivy Education.....how are their states and regions doing in social and economic activities?
your questioning if there's value in a Ivy sheepskin vs OSU or Penn State / Iowa? LOL...question the Ivy Education.....how are their states and regions doing in social and economic activities?
1000% this. Was following this thread and this is exactly what came to my mind and then I got to Atown's post lol.People get too caught up on rankings and wins as sophomores and juniors imo.
