What control does the AD have over SEC scheduling? Even though we don’t have 7 home games which

as strength of opponents, you can’t blame the OOC scheduling on Templeton. It's 4 wins.

he is saying that LT set us up to fail in 2011. The schedule this season was pretty easy besides the fact we only 6 home games. My point is - Templeton has/had no control over SEC scheduling.

I really think playing LSU 5 days after Auburn was worse scheduling (not that it really mattered) but before the season - I thought that was a horrible idea.

is his main beef with this schedule, especially with 2 of those games being non conference games. He said this was the scedule that worried byrne because if dan had two losing seasons to open this was the schedule he didnt like and wasnt sure if the fans would be calling for his job if he had a 3rd straight losing season. I agree with that sentiment, but 3 straight losing seasons should cost you your job regardless of so so scheduling, but i get his point

At some point, you can't blame Larry anymore and that point has passed.

but something definitely changed with this team during that LSU game. We've seemed completely shell shocked on offense and whatever confidence that we had is gone. I don't know that having an extra two days would have changed that, but playing an NFL team like LSU on 5 days rest is assuredly a bad idea.

To your original point, though, I agree that neither LT nor anyone dealing with our scheduling has had anything to do with eggs we've laid so far this year. Specifically, LA Tech. We should have lost that game...

LSU opened with Oregon in Arlington, Northwestern State at home, MSU on the road, and West Virginia on the road.

They only play 6 home games, and they opened with quite a tough stretch with their only home game in the first four weeks against Northwestern State.

They're surviving alright.

Point being, if you're winning tough games early, people will talk about how the rigorous early schedule helped your team toughen up going into league play. If you're losing, people say it killed your confidence.

I agree that playing LSU on a Thursday following Auburn wasn't ideal. Playing a big home game on a Thursday is usually not a bad idea because of the disadvantage it gives to the road team coming in, but after another tough road game prior, it wasn't the best planning. Outside of that, it is what it is. You opened with a cupcake to get you ready for the year. You have a combination of what should be cupcakes or open dates sandwiching Georgia and South Carolina, what appeared to be two of your swing games. Even Kentucky is sandwiched by an open date and a cupcake. Outside of the Bama, Arkansas, Ole Miss finish you traditionally have and the bad draw of playing LSU on short rest following a swing home game, you've got about as nice a schedule as you could ask for.

The SEC determines whom we play, but they don't set the dates. That's up to the Athletic directors. Now, the conference will step in to resolve issues, and they asserted some influence to address Alabama's complaint about all of their opponents having open weeks before playing Bama, but that's about it.

We moved LSU to the front of the schedule back in 1992 when the conference expanded and we got an 8 game SEC schedule. Seemed like a good idea to break up the Auburn/Alabama/LSU/UMiss schedule we had ended with for years. Then Auburn kind of floated up the schedule as the conference kept changing the East-West rotations.

But the fact is, it doesn't matter when you play them, any SEC schedule is going to be a damn tough schedule, especially an SEC West schedule. Bounds or anyone else can ***** all day about scheduling 2 OOC road games. But nobody can complain about the 4 teams Templeton scheduled OOC.

I have always thought that we would go 7 and 5 or 6 and 6. If we lucked up and beat GA we could win eight. We are where I thought we would be. Mullen is in his 3rd season. He took over a program that had one winning season in 10 years. It is going to take a while. Just get to a bowl game every year and good thing will eventually happen for you.

It did not matter when we played LSU. They were going to beat us no matter what. Auburn we should have won.GA was 50/50. I think Bo is full of dung.
