I have no problem with the accusation, though I agree with you, but to proceed to call a recruit and his family clueless because they didn't sign with you is really unprofessional. This will likely be used against him on the recruiting trail. Short-sighted.

No had a track record of being unprofessional at Nebraska

I assume that's an autocorrect for "Bo", but yes, he has that track record. I can't understand why Nebraska keeps him around after he basically insulted the entire fan base. Now he's taking shots at parents of recruits. I'm guessing he has some anger management issues.

I'm curious what kind of unspoken rule he thinks was violated. Money is changing hands all the time, so why is he pissed about this recruit? Did the recruit take Nebraska's money and then take UM's? Or is it just that he thinks UM paid above "market"? Or is it just that he's ok losing a recruit to the big boys but doesn't think he should have to compete with UM? Or was this just a particularly pressing need for him that is causing him to have sour grapes.

Real anger management issues. I was shocked when Nebraska hired him and I'm shocked they've kept him around this long. They fired Frank Solich for a lot better records and a lot less off-the-field issues than Pelini has.

Who knows. It would be interesting to meet them in a bowl game and hear the press conference. Evidently this is not his first offense. I read something about a player signing with Kentucky that drew similar words from him.

I think it's that he lost a recruit to a lower tier SEC school. It's 17ing Nebraska.

Lower tier SEC vs middle tier Big10/12. Don't see where that's a competition. Kid must have lost Bama's check.

Tell me all of these replies were missing the ** before I start to question your

intelligence. Hmmm, let me see. A perennial national powerhouse program that has won multiple legitimate championships vs a team that hasn't been relevant since integration? Is that really a choice for a recruit? SEC or not OM has been pulling up the rear in the SEC more times than not in recent memory, so please explain how recruits flip to them over perennial powers, given their historic and recent racist history? Any takers? Tunsil choosing them over UGA? OM will never win a SEC title in the current SEC. They aren't even the best team in MS.

This is why this board is not taken seriously any more. Bear apologists who couldn't see the truth if if jumped up and bit their dicks off. I'm guessing it's just coincidence that everyone from Pelini, Big 12 Commish, UGA AD, and other SEC coaches are all saying the same thing about Bucky and his croot buying. Yea, and there are roses blooming in the GD Arctic circle.

Then go back to your delusion 17'n board. Gahdammit the balls it takes to take the time to post a Bruiseresque novel and then ***** about the board that you posted War and Peace on. Go back to the one sided conversation and sit in your own pile of ignorance. 18 year olds don't remember Nebraska being relevant. They weren't born when Tommie Frazier was playing keep away in the Fiesta Bowl.

Perennial national powerhouse? Ha.

You need help. Really.
As a kid who's never really been alive to witness the greatness of Nebraska, I still see them as someone on that level. They might not really be in the discussion for NC year in and year our like some of their peers, but Nebraska is a powerhouse.

Trying to compare Ole Miss or any of the inconsistent SEC schools (throw MSU in there, UK, USC, Mizzou) to Nebraska is delusional beyond belief.

This time next year they'll have stolen someone's coach to the time of $4m/yr and be on the way to a top class.

But you have dumb opinions all the time, like Jordan was the best two sport

athlete ever or whatever. Go look at Rivals, OM recruited better than Nebraska 6 out of the last 8 years. State did at least 3 or 4 as well, per Rivals rankings. A receiver changing his mind to a much more pass-happy team right after a visit is nothing big, or new. According to your logic State will never ever sign a player that any team that has ever been good wants. Your words.

Now you're just making things up. Never said Jordan was the best two sport player ever, but nice try.

In that same time frame you're referring to they're almost averaging 10 win seasons in Power 5 conferences

Also in that timeframe they have had a lot better track record of putting people in the NFL Draft than y'all or us, including what might be the greatest defensive college player ever.

Get that rankings **** out of here.

You love putting stuff in my mouth.

Ole Miss can get whoever they want, to a lesser extent we can too, but don't tell me that a recruit should ever flip his commitment from a upper echelon team to a school that didn't win a game 3 seasons ago WITHOUT EVER VISITING at the very last second.

It's suppose to work the other way.

Thinking there was absolutely nothing fishy about it is a dumb opinion.

Also want to go on the record as saying Pelini is an average coach, and the minute they dump him they have the possibility of getting over the "good" hump.

Since you weren't alive to remember it, I'll help refresh your memory on how Nebraska built a powerhouse.

1) They had Tom Osbourne, who was a god in that state. Every high school in the state of Nebraska ran his offense and his defense for him, so that any kid from Nebraska that went to Nebraska already had 4 years of experience.
2) They had a HUGE walk-on program. They took the best players from all the schools in the state of Nebraska and gave them a shot to earn a scholarship. By doing this, they were able to build some quality depth out of kids who were under-recruited and/or overlooked, and again these kids knew the Nebraska system backwards and forwards. They also found a lot of very good players this way without having to worry about the risk/reward of bringing a walk-on on board.
3) They cheated like a MFer to buy the top athletes that they did go get out of state. NO ONE from outside of Nebraska has a hankering to go spend 4 years in Lincoln, but for the right price...

Now why does that not work anymore...

1) They haven't had the continuity to get the whole state running the head coach's system at every state high school. Not only that, but the triple option offense, even with great athletes, doesn't work these days nearly as well against the defensive speed of the top teams.
2) The NCAA instituted roster limits that severely dug into Nebraska's walk-on program, and they can no longer pick up so many borderline players and get fortunate when a handful of them develop into real players.
3) Everyone was cheating in the 80s and 90s, just like they are today, but a lot of other schools have caught up with Nebraska, and the cheating done today isn't as organized or targeted as it was back then. Nebraska was one of the best at it in the 80s and 90s, not so much today.

So, in short, what made Nebraska a nationally elite program is no longer in place, and they'll likely never return to their era of glory.

Like it or not, Ole Miss and MSU are probably more attractive destinations these days than Nebraska.

Hi RougeDawg, I just want to say that you’re my favorite ED poster. In a sea of sad, hate-filled, delusional morons who struggle to put together coherent sentences, you shine the brightest. You provide endless comedy, and I sincerely thank you for that.

I’ve enjoyed so many of your posts that it would be impossible to list them all, but one of my favorites was when you predicted us to start 1-6 last season and said the only team we had more talent than was SEMO. Classic RougeDawg. Now that the season’s approaching, it’s about time to start ramping up the crazy, don’t you think? Thanks in advance.

So Nebraska is a higher tier? You sound like a 17ing bama fan. In your mind, what constitutes a higher tier? BOTH MS schools would wax their **** with a brillo pad this year and the previous 3 years. You need more than words in your mouth. I hear it's double hotdog night down at the choke and poke...

Regardless of whether Nebraska is higher tier or not, do you honestly believe we're doing something that others aren't? Are you that foolish?

When there is demand for a player, stuff will very often go down if you're playing in a major conference...yes even at MSU.

In fact, I'm confident that when money gets involved, the playing field is still USUALLY fairly level, because no one just sits it out. The only time it's not level is if one team's boosters have better access to the player. For example, in Batesville, since we have boosters owning the major businesses that employ most of the area, we have a LOT easier time making sure that Momma, Daddy, Uncle, or whoever is taken care of in order to secure the player. MSU has quite a few towns in Mississippi where this is the case for you, which is why certain players are tougher for us to pull. In this case, neither school had those type of connections for Stringfellow. He's from California and was playing at Washington before looking to transfer to Nebraska or Ole Miss. That's a level playing field.

If you're trying to suggest Nebraska is some sort of pillar of non-cheating virtue, you're way off base. They're one of the all-time best at cheating.

I honestly doubt much if anything went down with Stringfellow though. That's rare in a transfer situation, especially for a WR, but if it did, you can bet Nebraska's boosters had plenty of opportunity to level the playing field and likely did...unless they're angry with Pelini, and they're trying to get him fired.

Now, that's entirely possible. Boosters can certainly cut a coach off if they choose to do so, and that could be the case for Pelini. If it is, then that's on Pelini, not on Ole Miss. Maybe if he quit talking poorly about his fans or about Nebraska legends like Tommy Frazier, that wouldn't happen to him. Maybe next he can take on Tom Osbourne and see how quickly things dry up for him in Lincoln.

You've seriously dated yourself with the perennial national powerhouse label. Nebraska is an above average team for the last 15-20 years.... They have not been a powerhouse in these recruits' lifetimes. Why would a recruit want to go to Nebraska over an SEC school when the SEC is winning current championships almost every year. You could say the same for Georgia Tech, a historical program that hasn't been relevant in a long time or Miami who is improving but hasn't been a powerhouse in a long time. Would you be shocked to beat out Georgia Tech or Miami for a recruit...I wouldn't and haven't been. Regardless, the principle responses were in reference to Bo's sour grapes, which he could and should handle in a more professional manner.

Oh, trust me. I know it goes on at MSU. I saw it. A lot of it in broad daylight.

I just don't want people to sit here and tell me that Ole Miss gets these players because of the Christian faith of St. Freeze and because Oxford is the GrEaTeSt CoLlEgE tOwN eVeR!!!????

And I'd say when Ole Miss and MSU get to a point where in addition to being a national brand they don't have to struggle to get 60,000 people at games, they have reached equal status.

Y'all are acting like I'm spewing venom towards MSU. I love MSU. But I'm not going to say that just because we're now acting like we're an SEC school and have unprecedented money that we have now surpassed a school that regularly wins 10 games, fills 90,000 seat stadiums, has been to 50 bowls, and has more conference titles than we could hope to achieve in the next 200 years.

How is it people understood this with Texas A&M coming off 6-6 seasons when they joined the SEC that "they're a sleeping giant!" but Nebraska isn't?

The ultimate problem with your premise is that you assume players make decisions solely off how big the program is or what tradition they have or whether they will win in the near future or whether they've won in the past.

Those factors do come into play, but they aren't necessarily as big as factors such as relationships with the coaches, the depth chart (immediate playing time opportunities), the style of offense/defense the team runs, the amount of exposure the player can get at the school, how many players a particular coach has put into the NFL at your position. Then, of course you've got factors like proximity to home, who the player cheered for as a kid, if a family member went or goes to a particular school, atmosphere of the campus/community, exposure of the conference, ability to play against the best either in practice or in games, whether or not the player has friends who attend there or will be attending the school, etc.

Those factors often trump "program status", so even if you're arguing Nebraska is a national power (they aren't), you're ignoring the fact that many other factors contribute to that decision. That's why schools with seemingly less tradition (our programs) beat out programs with more tradition every year.

I mean they used to be good a long time ago

Probably would still be if Butch and Coker (who interestingly enough is having success at UTSA) weren't such sleazes.

Do I think MSU could beat Nebraska and Miami? I do. I think we could beat Michigan and give USC and Notre Dame a good game. That's wasn't the discussion though.

The discussion was if Nebraska was a "powerhouse."

I guess people have varying opinions on what constitutes a school being a "powerhouse." I think Nebraska, and why not... throw Miami in there, has been skating by with poor leadership and still managing to out perform both Ole Miss and MSU on the field. I think when they decide to shuffle things around they could easily be back there sooner rather than later.

I'm really happy with the direction MSU is headed, but we're not even close to where we need to be or CAN be. So please excuse me if I'm reluctant to crown us as probable dominators of the has-beens. It's going to take sustained success, which we've never really been able to have.

Three Questions:

Do you have any Ole Miss fans as friends?

Do you speak to Ole Miss fans at work?

Have you reproduced? The hope here is "no, with no plans."
