First of all I hope the kid signs with us and competes for the job next year, but with that being said 2 years ago thisguys best offer was Arkansas State. Has he developed that much in 2 years where he can be a serviceable QB in the SEC? His value sure has sky-rocketed in a short amount of time and I think sometimes we get fooled by the success in the juco ranks. He could have been tremendously overlooked coming out of high school as we all know Aaron Rodgers was. Has he grown 4 or 5 inches since high school or what? I wanted to hear your guys feedback on this.

is simply that QB is a really tough position to evaluate at all levels. That's why you see so many QBs that do so well at ****** schools while your own QB play may suck. How many QBs at Sun Belt and MAC schools would you have traded Henig for in the mid-00s? It's because QB recruiting can be a crap shoot more than any other position.

You are correct though that even success in the Juco ranks can be misleading. You could list off numerous examples.

coming out of HS. One analyst in this area (maybe it was Doug Mathews) said he was the best big/conventional/pro-style QB notoffered by a big school. Based on the high marks this guy got from the local media, I couldn't believe his accomplishments didn't garnermore atttention from schools like state,uk,om,vandy et al. I remember thinking at that time that wallace would prolly end up going to a mid major and breaking a ncaa season passing record before being drafted in the 1st round. Glad to hear that he's finally back in the mix.

...in a read option offense that put him on the edge more often in the passing game. He wouldn't have been all world but a darn sight better than what he was. Just bad coaching to put him in a pro set.I'll go with Randall Mackey as a good example. I don't think he'd be very succesful at this level regardless of coaching or offensive style...Henig, either, for that matter.

I hope we get Wallace but my expectations of him will be tempered regardless of where he ends up and I wouldn't expect much success out of him this next year no matter how good he ends up.

We've both had our fair share of crappy QB play in recent and long term history, and every year you watch schools at lower levels with better QB play, and you wonder how those guys didn't get a look from better schools.

That's why I hope my school signs at least one or two QBs in every class that appear to have the potential to be good, hoping that one out of every 4 or 5 you sign actually turns into something.

for ****** offensive lines, no running games, horrible play calling, receivers who cannot see because they need contacts or cannot get open.

Kevin Fant, Mark Young, Don Smith, Tony Shell, Michael Spurlock, Dave Marler.

All victims of poor team management, or some aspect out of their control.

Given different circumstances......CERTAINLY Youn and Marler and Shell, they'd have been all world.

Their pro carreers or lack thereof are not relevant.
