Who knows? They've had alot of practice hiring new coaches over the last 15-16 years so they'll get somebody. From the mid 50's to about 2008 they only had 3 head coaches. Since 2008 this will be their 6th new head coach.

I wonder if they already found their guy. Joe Fielder from Chatham (formerly Magna Vista assistant) left Chatham. Job was posted today. I haven't officially heard where he's going but Martinsville would make sense with Joe being a Henry County guy.

Not saying he might not get it but that's not the name we've been hearing. Is Fielder from Henry Co? Thought I heard he went to Northside HS. I know he coached at Magna Vista. Didn't stay long at Chatham. What happened??

I associate him with Henry County due to coaching at Magna Vista and owning a house in Collinsville. Seems like a move he'd make and the timing fits. I still haven't gotten to know Joe well and if he's leaving Pittsylvania County I won't get the chance. And leaving Chatham isn't a surprise if it's to get him back near the place he's made home. I think he has a 45-50 minute drive each way.

@BigDaddyFromThe434 Chatham now staring down the barrel to find a coach on June 15. 4th coach in 5 years between Fielder, Turner, new guy and Allen in 2019
Well there's one common denominator in all that and that's Reese, the head principal at Chatham. Anyone that I know that's had any interaction with him has not spoken very highly of him. I guess when you treat people like crap that's what you get in return...

I know this is the fall sports board, but Chatham has had similar turnover in basketball and baseball is almost as bad. Basketball is looking to hire a 4th coach since 2020 we well (Warren, Paseiwiciz, Fitzgerald, new guy). Baseball went from Grohgan to Anderson to a new coach. That's a lot of turnover in your boys major sports. The other Pittsylvania County schools haven't had this kind of turnover in all three sports, and especially not in football.

Chatham generally doesn’t have that turnover. So Allen, Turner, Fielder, new guy, that’s 4 coaches doing 8 years total (Allen doing the first 4). Look at the 4 coaching tenures prior to that
Grekos: 6
Dalton: 3
Foutz: 9
Richards: 9

As noted the principal turnover could be an issue. Allen had an admin change to the current admin.

I couldn’t remember Allen’s run too much, so I looked it up. In his last six games at Chatham, his team gave up in succession 34, 35, 35, 63, 34, 83, and 64.
You care to amend the “had them coming up” statement?

Put up the third most points in school history at the time. School had its 14th winning season and 4th playoff season in its history, and he was named Danville area coach of the year for the effort. Since then they have gone 0-3, 4-6, and 5-5.
