I don’t know enough about aTm to know what he’s dealing with but their QB play there has been average at best which is surprising with their resources. He’s always been a good play caller but I don’t know how his personality will mesh down there, I personally hope the wheels fall off completely.

TAM had major issues at QB in '22, losing at least 3 to season ending injuries. They ended the year with a true frosh 4* who showed nice potential. Probably will have QBs hitting the portal post-spring.

Smacks of desperation, honestly. BP has been a good play caller but didn't really show much when at Arky. Pretty sure I could've done pretty well with LJ as my QB. I mean, if the play broke down, he was just as likely to take off and make serious yardage as the play called.

He's a scumbag, no integrity whatsoever. Does not like to recruit. Would guess he's a complete a-hole to the QBs/players, too. Arrogant. If he's successful, he'll move on quickly. If he's not, he may cause as much chaos as he has at other stops. Big risk, perhaps a big reward but we'll see if he's UofL BP or Arky BP pretty quickly.

Respectfully disagree with your assessment of his AR "career". He was 2-6 and 3-5 his first 2 Arky SEC years then followed with a couple of 6-2 SEC seasons (21-5 overall) seasons his last 2 years.. JMO but I think that is very acceptable for SEC play.

Peace

I think he will make a very good OC for them IF, the rest of the coaching staff can tolerate him.
Petrino is a major ***, according to everyone I have ever known who has the unfortune of being around him.
But from the standpoint of letting him run the offense, It's a really good hire.
Just keep your wives and daughters away from him.

As wildcard said he had a couple of pretty good years at Arky after taking over a program that wasn't a power. Different time but he was good OC at AU for them to attempt to hire him in the middle of the night.

With that being said, neither Jimbo or BP have shown they are good leaders. Coaches meetings could be very entertaining and sides will be picked.

I mean, who are the best in the SEC? Monken and Heupel? Guy at LSU was ok. I'm sure Bama has a great plan after BOB leaves soon.

Ob I'm biased but I put Coen in the upper 1/3rd.

I am not claiming Monken to be the best in the conference, but he is good. LSU is probably happy with their OC. I know UK is happy to get Coen back, whoever UT hires will run through the head coach so UT is happy, I guess OM is happy. Bama wasn't, Carolina wasn't, UF just wants an OC. Don't know about the rest, I do think that was a weakness of the conference.

BP has been a good play caller but didn't really show much when at Arky.
He finished nationally ranked 5th, with the SEC’s no. 1 ranked offense, winning the Cotton Bowl, with an 11-2 record in 2011, his last season at Arkansas.

He finished nationally ranked 12th, with the SEC’s second best offense, losing the Sugar Bowl, with a 10-3 record in 2010.

His 2 double-digit winning seasons are half of such seasons Arkansas has had the last 35 years.

He will do well this year, better next. Level off, slowly decline and eventually get run out of town by coaches and media that will be shocked by the disfunction around him that went unreported until his last year.
Its as if there is a pattern or something.

Looks like a desperate move by a head coach on a rotten rope, brining in a guy like Petrino with more baggage then Paris Hilton.

The Football part isn’t a concern. He’s always been a good play caller. It’s personality that’s the potential issue

Agreed but if you're desperate, don't f around - go all in. Jimbo has done that here.

If he let's Honest Bob do what he wants on O with little oversight, he'll look like a genius. If not, dumpster fire.

Dude has a 137-71 record as a HC...

He has a pretty good track record with putting together productive offenses and getting a lot out of QBs.

Sometimes you have to put up with baggage.

The game evolved right into his wheelhouse over the last 5-10 years. Not just offense, but specifically passing game, and even more specifically QB.

Historically he doesn't seem to rely on type of QB but can design an offense and play call on game day to a high degree of success. Brohm, Mallet, Lamar, wku kid...

Winning helps a lot of things go smoother & helps keep things calm.

We all just witnessed it & have first hand knowledge that is true!
