I think that was in St. Petersburg, but can't swear by it. We blocked a FG or XP to eke out a W.
That bowl was the direct result of Mullen wearing shorts against South Alabama in the opening game of the season, well that and Peter Sirmon.
St Pete Bowl against Ball State, who I think was 6-6. Blocked a PAT to keep a one-point lead and then blocked about a 25 yard field goal as time expired to win it. Kind of embarrassing it took that to beat a 6-6 MAC team by one point.
Don't remember which bowl, but MSU sort of humbled Louisville's Lamar Jackson, Heisman winner, as I recall.
I went to that game. It was Miami of Ohio. Not Ball State. But it felt like a loss even with the win. I loved St Pete. I can’t believe a major league baseball team played in that stadium. It was bad.

I was there, and so pissed at the end that I couldn’t even celebrate the blocked kick. It was the day after Christmas. We had traveled down to Tampa on Christmas Day… never doing that again
Yea I went with my brother. We left on Christmas Day and I had a newborn. That was probably not the smartest decision of my life
