1. Russell held on to the ball too long and will get killed if he does this against AU.

2. Milton may be the featured back by the end of the season.

3. Too many holes in our secondary but we played zone and should adjust against AU.

4. Nice to see several OL get playing time early in the game, we will need them by seasons end.

5. TE looked good and it was nice to see Hill become involved.

***As I have said all summer long, AU has more talent and it will be very difficult to beat them. We should play with more intensity and if we don't get down big early in the game, we will have a shot.

1) Still a concern to me that I don't seem to see Russell quickly going through his progressions. He is still locking onto one guy too much and I'm still not seeing our receivers get much separation from defenders.

2) Perkins, Milton and Robinson all looked good. Not sure what Griffin's top end speed is right now but he is not accelerating out of the backfield once given the ball.

3) We played super vanilla zone coverage last night and I am going to assume that was for Auburn's benefit in not showing them anything. Would hate to think we are going to leave those wide open soft spots in the pass defense next week If we do Auburn will put up 41 points again this year.

4) Hard to say much about the quality of the OL since our best 2 (Jackson and Smith) only played one series for the game.

5) Thought Hill did look good and at least Marcus didn't drop any passes.

I'll chime in....glad someone saw the same game I did......

1. Russell held on to the ball too long and will get killed if he does this against AU.
Totally agree on Russell holding on the ball too long. It has to be the biggest problem we had all night, which wasnt much. He won't be doing that in SEC play, or we will have a long season.

2. Milton may be the featured back by the end of the season.
Milton looked like a thoroughbred on steriods he is so damn cut, but call me crazy and drunk last night, but he looked a little slow. Josh Robinson didnt play much and I think Robinson is the best back on the team. Yes, the entire team. I think we didn't feature Robinson as much to "hide" him from AU. I expect a heavy dose of Robinson vs. AU.

3. Too many holes in our secondary but we played zone and should adjust against AU.
I said this last year, and the year before. We have some play makers on Def, but we play a bend, don't break defense. It is frustrating to watch at times.

4. Nice to see several OL get playing time early in the game, we will need them by seasons end.
Our OL looked good at times last night, and it was nice to see that they looked experienced. That's gonna help problem no 1 with Russell holding the ball too damn long.

5. TE looked good and it was nice to see Hill become involved.
TEs look to be a big part of our offense this year. Glad Mullen is taking pages from the NE Patriots. It works for them as well. I think you will see a lot of teams feature a pass catching hog at TE in the future. It will become a fad like the Wildcat. Glad we are on the front end of the fad.

***As I have said all summer long, AU has more talent and it will be very difficult to beat them. We should play with more intensity and if we don't get down big early in the game, we will have a shot.

Also, watching the AU game last night, they definitely have some very, very good talent. But it's young, inexperienced talent with new coaches. I think AU will be a beast the next 2-3years, but not so much this year. This is OUR year to beat them. We haven't beaten them in starkville since 2000. If AU wins next week it will be by having just better players, or we beat ourselves. I think we have better coaches. I see another 3-4 point game vs them and could go either way.

Tenn game in Starkville is going to be tough as well. I am looking forward to seeing Coach34s article on Maroon and White.....he seems very very confident we will beat AU....

Auburns problem is attrition. They've probably lost 30% of the signees under Chizik. I think Van Groder is a great coach though.

AU definitely has talent, but, offensively, they struggled to find rhythm. Clemson is still a bad defensive team. Also, AU was gashed by the ground game of Clemson. Once ellington broke through the first level, AU couldn't tackle him.

The key will be to ground pound and get the TEs involved over the top.

#5 - I think it was really important to get Green off the snide of last season where he was dropping passes and I think we did that last night. He could be that one little extra our offense needs to make it formidable.
