according to this and we happen to play Memphis on the date they are wanting to play. We have 5 home games set up for that season and one spot left to fill. Memphis still hasn't finalized their schedule. So, if we could move Memphis to 9/03/11 and slide in a home game with Boise St. (without the return game requirement) as a surely nationally televised season opener, wouldn't this be better than playing a no name FCS school?

OOC opponents Memphis (away), La Tech (home) and UAB (away), are all "should win" games. Eastern Divisional games vs. South Carolina, at Georgia, and at UK is a favorable slate. Western schedule pretty much exactly like this year's. I think it's not necessary to bring Boise in with a schedule as favorable as that when you know you can pay JSU, Alcorn, etc. to come in and be your one DII cupcake exemption. We should be a strong team in 2011, with Mullen's recruits having enough experience by then to make some noise. Tempting, yes, but I honestly don't think a Boise win offers enough reward over the high risk of adding another SEC-caliber team to our lineup.

NO! NO! NO!

Now, I am as competitve as anyone. I don't mind playing good competition, and the challenge, and etc.

BUT that said, we are a perinneal 3, 4 win SEC team. We need wins. We have a tough enough SEC schedule by itself that we don't need to schedule someone like Boise State to get style points. We need games where we can win, and go to bowl games and get money, exposure for our team and school, and extra practice time. This is how you build a program. Not by busting your balls on some impossible schedule so that you can say you have a tough schedule. We can play a team like Boise State IN A BOWL. We need money, but not to the point where we have to ***** ourselves out.

Not to mention, WAC officials will screw us over.

If we get four non-conference wins, we're over halfway to bowl eligibility, and then all we have to do some combination of the following: beat UK, upset someone, win a toss up game, and/or win the Egg Bowl.

And their coach is a Morman.

Our schedule is why we're 4-5 instead of 6-3 and bowl eligible right now. Let's keep the non-conference fairly easy since we have a brutal conference schedule. When we're consistently winning seven or eight games, then we can go back to playing stronger non-conference opponents.

BSU would be a ranked team to get a W on for purposes of BCS strength of schedule. I'd rather play them than any other typical top 10 team from a name brand conference.

Its too early for us to worry about BCS strength of schedule. Bring on Tulane.

Looks like our date list is covered up, does it make $ sense for us to get out of our existing contract.

They are making this look like nobody will play them(scrared), but in reality, most contracts are set several years in advance, not one or two.

Their " nobody will play us" deal is purely Bull ****! Media driven.

eventually we will have to start winning for five years in a row to garner any type of respect on a national stage. Every time we are on national television the story is the same: "Can little ol' wimpy MState pull one out over <insert perennial powerhouse here>?" I am ready to see MSU in the spotlight in a positive fashion and I don't think that Boise State is much more of a contender than the top 5 and 6 of the SEC and we manage to pull out wins on these teams yearly.

...Boise State runs a razzle dazzle offense that Miss. State could never begin to slow down.

BS plays in a weak conference, but they may be one of the best coached teams in America.

Mullen & Ninja will steer clear of Boise State if they have any common sense.

to join the Pac 10 with another WAC team good in Basketball, like say, University of Nevada instead of doing PR stunts and begging bigger conference teams to play them? This will give the Pac 10, 12 teams and they could have a Championship game like the SEC, ACC and Big 12...oh wait, USC would never agree to an extra game.

Let's win 4 OOC games and get bowl eligible with a pair of SEC wins. The time for playing big time non conference foes is years down the road.
