Faulkner has now turned down Arkansas and Kentucky for OC jobs and MTSU for HC job. Can confirm that also. Faulkner will stay for another 2 years then leave for a P4 HC job. Also don’t say that Kentucky fans don’t care when y’all made another thread just about him.
Maybe I’m misunderstanding your point, but the assumption that we may return to a run heavy offense isn’t because of UK’s past or program limitations, it’s because apparently the coordinator we’re hiring is known as a run heavy guy. And to some extent what we know about Stoops’ tendencies. For the record, I’m feeling pretty optimistic about this hire, assuming it goes through.

Well, if Drink wanted to keep him ask yourself this question. Is BSU a better job than Mizzou? No. So that makes me think Drink let him walk.
Stoops won't admit this is a downgrade but he did choose Coen over Hamdan back in 2021. Doesn't mean than Hamdan can't/won't be better than Coen but Stoops did choose Coen last time.
After his experience with Coen (2x) and Scan, quite possibly this time Stoops thought a CFB guy would be a better fit and more desired than an NFL guy. So that is why Hamden is wanted now but wasn't in 2021.

I just hope if he is successful, he sticks around for a while. We need some consistency on offense. We haven't really had it all since Joker Phillips was our OC.
His lack of recruiting in the south is a huge red flag for me.
He’s recruited Missouri and is from Maryland, two areas we’ve been recruiting recently.

Hamdan was QB coach at MO, left to be OC/QB at his alma mater. A promotion.
As noted above, he's recruited areas in the past that UK is recruiting now. His responsibility will be QB recruiting/portal, 2 areas where he has experience/success in the past.
Hoping to get 3 years out of him. People still not understanding that's how the football assts jobs are handled.
Hamden brings a 1000% more south CFB recruiting experience, SEC recruiting experience to UK now than Coen did when 1st hired

I'm underwhelmed by the hire at this moment. Petersen had some lights out offenses at BSU but how much of that is due to playing a weak schedule is still debated. Hamdan coming from that offensive family tree is intriguing, getting the recruits he did is intriguing, and his experience coaching QBs is intriguing. But, intrigue is all it is at this point.
Dude is going to have more talent to work with on the offense than UK has had at any other point during Stoops' tenure. Lots of unknowns with that talent, but this dude should have the tools on offense to come out of the gate like a bat out of hell.
Not a fan of how he moves around like Coen or how inexperienced he is at play calling, but we'll see how things unfold. I could see him working out. Or not. It's the skeptic in me, but the concern from that one Boise fan on the thread who talked about a tale of two offensive coordinators outweighs my optimism from those upset about Hamdan leaving.
The SEC is a baptism by fire. I hope he's ready – Dr. Jekyll, not Mr. Hyde.

Agreed, but in his comment about us paying Stoops $9M to “not do ****” wasn’t too far off base, unfortunately. He’s being paid a salary above the level of success he’s actually achieved in terms of W-L record.
As for the presumed hiring of Bush Hamadan, I know little about him but I’m willing to give him a fair chance. Stoops owns the outcome regardless.
Our offense was not great last season with Coen so I am pretty sure this guy will not have Ky last in the nation in the number of plays run per game.
If he runs between the tackles with 9 men in the box on first down, I will break my TV set.Let’s just wait until the first series of plays in our opener before we judge him

Coen’s NFL credentials brought him a lot of clout, especially with QB recruits/transfers.
We really don't know whose offense we were seeing on game days for big portions of most games.
All you can do is get the best you can at this time. Maybe he is the best for us at this time that wants to be here. This is semi pro football and totally different than being in any other conference. I have seen over the years that outsiders talk about how strong the upper part of the SEC is but the rest is just so so. I think the upper SEC is just so far ahead of everybody else that the gap to the middle and bottom makes it look that way. Outsiders don't realize how tough the middle and bottom is, excluding Vandy. The players and coaches on all these teams bring a huge challenge every week.
If this guy can't hack this meat grinder of a conference, he will be gone pretty quick. Stoops doesn't mess around too long with incompetent coaches. So knowing Stoops is getting the best available that wants to be here and knowing that the guy has to be successful or he will be gone fairly quickly is all we as fans can ask for. I like the balance and the deception this guy is suppose to bring. Seems like a good plan to try and see what happens. I do know you have to have a great QB and great lines in this conference or nothing is going to work. So recruiting at a high level and coaching at a high level has to be.

My nagging concern is UK's O, regardless who the OC is, will be pretty inexperienced and young at QB/RB. RB in particular, while showing potential, will be very thin on actual game experience. Going to have to learn on the fly.
Stoops is a GOOD coach. Anyone who says he isn't - doesn't understand football like they think they do. I admit, I am a football fan and I'm not a coach! Being a head coach is different than being a position coach or even a co-ordinator - that's where most people don't understand the difference. Stoops has succeeded very well in most phases of being a head coach. Ask your selves these questions about Stoops as a coach: Has he and has staff done better in recruiting than coaches in the past did here? Have the facilities of the program improved since he became head coach? Has the fan support increased since he has been here? Have we gone to more bowl games since he became here? Have season ticket sales increased since he became here? Has he developed any award winning players since he has been here? Academically has the team done well? Have we had mass defections in the transfer portal? Have the transfers we lost been truly game changers? Have we had any NCAA penalities since he has been here? Has he won more games than he has lost since he has been here?
I think if you answer those questions honestly - you will see Coach Stoops has been a very good coach. Having said that he is not perfect. His in game coaching decisions and adjustments don't seem well thought out or are made spontaneously. He probably over thinks situations which leads to no decisions. He doesn't seem to know how to use his timeouts to his advantage. Those are my opinions about him. Do I think we need to be looking in a different direction for a head coach - YES. But not because of what Coach Stoops has done - but because of what his limitations are here at Kentucky. He made a huge mishandling of the A&M situation - IMO. Maybe I am wrong - but his statements told me that he doesn't think he can win a championship at Kentucky - or at the very least he thinks A&M would be a lot easier on him. I have to agree with him on that. Just look at the differences in everything between the programs. But his old boss failed miserably at A&M - so the grass is not always greener.
People need to understand this - we have a good coach - but we don;t have a great coach or a future hall of fame coach - but those coaches are really few and far between. I happen to think we have an alumus who is making a name for himself that would be the perfect hire - but thats my opinion! Coach Stoops has a contract where he will be coach here as long as he wants to be coach here or UK will make him a very, very, very rich man to get him to leave!

Yeah, the OH St RB better be pretty good. It seems the QB can run and pass but his lack of experience in the SEC makes you think it may take him a year to get acclimated to the speed of the game. With the new OC it seems like some of the pressure may be off him with a stronger running game the OC is looking for. The new QB also seems to line up fairly well with the new system that calls for some QB runs and more use of the TE's.
Hamdan if given the reins to call his game plan in my opinion can and will be Stoops best OC to date.
So when Hamden went to the Falcons they was using Kyle Shanahan's system. Said that it is a system that keeps a defense guessing no matter what formation they are in. So if you are watching the Super Bowl tonight may give an idea of what it might kinda look like.
