Going to 9 conference games plus a Power 4 kicker is not great for the playoff chances especially for State and Ole Miss.

If his pocketbook gets hit hard, he may. If it's just generally detrimental to half the conference, unlikely. There's so many teams in the playoffs now and more on the way, it won't be a problem. Big 10 is pushing hard for a 24-team playoff, and it's probably just a matter of time before they get it.
We had to go to nine conference games just because of the sheer number of teams in the conference. You're going to have too much of a schedule imbalance with 8. There's still one with 9 but not as bad.Do you think Sankey would ever admit he was wrong and go back to 8 after trying it a couple years, or are we doomed with it forever?
I did too, even earlier than 2020. And we were both right, and the SEC commissioner knew it. That's why they kept the 8-game schedule for so long. But with playoff expansion to 12 and soon to 16 or 24, the additional conference game won't be a problem. There will be more SEC teams in the playoffs than ever before, even with 9 games.I typed this repeatedly on SPS back in 2020 when they started this 9-game B.S.
It's already too much of a gauntlet. It is going to make players more timid trying not to get hurt before a playoff run.
GOTTA HAVE PATSIES on your schedule if you want to make a championship run. Ask Indiana.
Hell, ask OM!
Yes. The purpose of that half (our half) of the conference is to take Ls from the top half and be thankful for it.If his pocketbook gets hit hard, he may. If it's just generally detrimental to half the conference, unlikely.
