The festival moved to the fairgrounds this year after cancellation at the park by the river last year. The lineup was announced Monday and tickets went on sale today. Fantastic lineup if you like seeing live music.

Headliners include: Foo Fighters, John Fogarty, Robert Plant, Hall & Oates, Zac Brown, & ZZ Top

How do Hall & Oates get bigger billing than Allison Krauss? Krauss has won 27 Grammys with over 40 nominations and is still in her prime (age 47). Hall (72) & Oates (70) had a some lite rock hits in the 70's and early 80's but haven't done squat since. Most of their stuff that charted was pretty lame ("Kiss on My List", "Private Eyes", "I Can't Go for That (No Can Do)", "Maneater", and "Out of Touch").

My guess is this is a more rock themed event and H&O are touring this year. Would guess that if Allison Krause and Robert Plant hadn’t cut an album together, she would have been in the country festival they’re having this year instead of B&B. But that’s just my guess.

Every last one of those songs are :fire:, that's why.

They should play those H&O songs in prison yards to dramatically lower the testosterone level. It would be the closest thing to castrating the inmates to keep them calm.

Not able to go, but if I did it would be Saturday

I have seen Plant a half dozen times, delivers every time

Would prefer to see him indoors, but catch his show if you can. Will not disappoint.

Of course, it is a matter of taste.

...and age.

I am very impressed with that lineup.

Here in Atlanta (much bigger than the entire state of Kentucky), we just completed "Music Midtown." For my money the B & B has a MUCH more attractive lineup than we had down here.

As to your original question:

Hall & Oates

Billboard magazine had Hall and Oates at No. 15 on their list of the 100 greatest artists of all time and the No. 1 duo.

Hall and Oates have sold an estimated 40 million records, making them the best selling music duo in history.

They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April 2014.[6]

On September 2, 2016, they received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.[7]

Hall and Oates were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

They are best known for their six No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100: "Rich Girl", "Kiss on My List", "Private Eyes", "I Can't Go for That (No Can Do)", "Maneater", and "Out of Touch", as well as many other songs which charted in the Top 40 including the singles "You Make My Dreams", “She’s Gone” and “Sara Smile”.

In total, they had 34 chart hits on the US Billboard Hot 100,

seven RIAA platinum albums,

and six RIAA gold albums.

Billboard magazine named them the most successful duo of the rock era, surpassing Simon & Garfunkel and The Everly Brothers.

They have achieved moderate success in the United Kingdom with two UK top ten albums, spending a total of one-hundred and seventeen weeks in the UK top 75 album charts and eighty-four weeks in the top seventy-five of the UK Singles Chart.[4]

Yeah, I didn’t get the question either. Music is all about personal taste of course - you might like Krause better. But no question who the bigger act/headliner is......

Missing this is bothering me quite a bit, especially the Friday lineup. Wife didn't want to go and I have the same number of friends as all of you a-holes.

I particularly wanted to see The Record Company so I could decide if they're the real deal or not.

Had a blast last night. We saw in order Joan Jett, Live, Green Sky Bluegrass, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, John Fogarty, and The Foo Fighters. Can't imagine a much better lineup of performers. They had a slight blare on the high notes so The Flaming Lips were really hurting my ears. Walked down by the food and caught Green Sky Bluegrass. Glad I did, they were a pleasant surprise and a nice break from the main stages.

As @bigblueinsanity mentioned it was absolutely packed last night. I was not expecting a crowd that big. We got there at 3 and the crowd just kept swelling and swelling. I hope this thing gets going over the years because this would be a really fun 3 week thing to have in Louisville every year with big name acts.

I was trying to see an attendance figure for Friday, if anyone sees it reported let me know. I was guessing 50,000-60,000.

I am curious about attendance too. Been super packed pretty much around the clock.

Wasn’t able to go. I was wondering how did Robert Plant sound? Dude is 71, but how’s his voice holding up?

I am well aware of Hall & Oats soft rock resume and even stated much of it in my post. My observation was about who is the bigger draw today. Hall and Oats haven't done anything of note in almost 30 years and probably couldn't fill much more than a bar as the headliner today. Maybe that is why Daryl Hall is doing reality TV these days rather than performing full time. Allison Krauss has won more Grammys than any other singer ever and sold multi-millions too. However, she is still in her prime and IMO should have received larger billing.

I saw the below on Twitter a couple of weeks ago:

The Daryl Hall and John Oates track “You Make My Dreams” has been streamed nearly 358 million times on Spotify. For the sake of comparison, The Beatles have yet to crack 200 million with either “Let it Be” or “Hey Jude.”

Now, the Beatles have only been on streaming services for a few years, so maybe that explains it. But still...speaks to the ongoing popularity of Hall and Oates. I wonder what Alison Krauss' streaming stats show?

It's not like she's on the charts currently. She hasn't had a "hit" in 10-15 years.

Great fest

Wish Little Steven didn’t have to cancel
Glad they expanded it to 3 days
Not many guest appearances other than Dave Grohl jumping up and playing drums a couple of times

Can’t wait to see GNR next weekend

Hall and Oates songs also show up on 80s playlists, soft rock playlists, Yacht Rock playlists (mistakenly), etc. That probably adds to the number.

She released an album in 2017 that was nominated for 2 Grammy's and peaked at #9 on the Billboard album charts.

Cher came out with a new album last year that peaked at #3, and is playing arena's all over the country. What's your point?
