I had a call from a friend when Jeff was in he hospital telling me he was in far more serious condition than was being reported. He did indeed come close to losing his leg. I am very happy for him and Debbie he has recovered like he has. I have known Jeff for over 30 years. Not a better person has ever coached a college football team. He gave most of his adult life to USM and was treated like dirt by many USM fans. He has moved on and is living a great life on the coast. I really think USM should hire him as the new AD, but I could certainly understand him wanting nothing to do with USM now.
