I counted 41 bowl games. This crap is totally out of control. What the hell is Northern Illinois doing in a bowl game much less playing Boise State?

5-7 teams made bowls and you wonder what NIU is doing in one?

I agree though, waaaaaaay too many

You can never be too rich, too thin or have too many bowl games.

If we went with a 9-game season, let 128 D1 teams in, then properly seed it, we could go with even brackets and have a champion by Christmas.

Based on their typical 3rd weekend in November games, the SEC teams pretend this is already the case.

To be fair on NIU they played with it's 4th string QB and just winning the MAC under that circumstance was a pretty impressive deal....horrible loss no question but...

Northern Illinois has lost four bowl games in a row and had their asses kicked in three of them. What's the excuse for that? I didn't realize a 4th string QB was capable of giving up 55 points. This is a perfect example of too many teams in too many bowl games. Some of these teams are just flat out bad.

If only Wassup13 would have coached him up his HS senior year. I blame on the fact Cobbs is actually an OPRF alum.

Funny! The one I saw him drop was coming across the middle of the field. I don't know if he was hearing footsteps? He's a guy that will drop an easy pass and then make unbelievable catches the rest of the game. He has good size and is a physical receiver. I've seen him make one handed catches this year. The kid can really play.

His junior year he had to sit out for football at Montini for the first semester because of the IHSA rules transferring from a public to private school. He played basketball at Montini in the fall of his junior year. In the summer before Senior year he was playing in all the 7 on 7 games for Montini but then a week before school started up he had to transfer back to OPRF due to school funding issues.

He is good friends with Nile Sykes (Freshman) and Leon Thorton (Freshman) who are alums from Montini now playing at Indiana. And no there is nothing I could have taught Cobbs to improve his game, that would be the job of the Montini coaching staff.

Dr. when you really can't throw the football with consistency and you rely on the run game it makes game planning a bit easier....and if you watched any of the NIU game you saw right away that Boise State was going to take away the run which they did. No excuse for the defense but you also need to paint a better picture when NIU had zero offense and allowing a team as good as Boise multiple touches (and Boise was all underclassmen this season and will be loaded in 2016 FYI) never helps.

Wassup,
No argument that Simmie Cobbs has all of the tools to be a top receiver, but he had way too many drops this entire year.
He had about four in the bowl game including one in the end zone, which then became a field goal.

I get your point Edgy. First or 4th string QB NIU would have been over matched either way. Maybe they will be better next year. That will most likely translate to losing by fewer points. ;)

I agree he has too many drops in games but don't let the Bowl game only give you an indication of his skills. Cobbs is only a Sophomore this year.

Simmie was also Offensive Player of the Week vs Michigan State and Offensive Player of the Game vs Maryland this year. You can see the highlights of these two games on YouTube.com.

Wassup, our daughter goes to IU, I saw all of his games this year.
He contributed to some wins and he contributed to some losses.
He has tremendous talent, but he needs to become more consistent.

We will have to agree to disagree on Cobbs (Leads IU in receptions with 60, yards with 1,035 with 17.3 yards per catch). Yes he makes drops that should be easy catches but I think that can be cleaned up since he's only a soph.

Indiana football is doing very well on the offensive side of the ball. They need to get better on the defensive side of the ball if they want to become one of the elite teams in the Big 10. They also seem to show up for the first 3 quarters but don't finish in the 4th quarter. I don't know if that's a conditioning or depth issue. The offense though has been great (They scored less than 26 points this year in only one game).
