I've seen several post they want MSU in the Orange because of the $18 million payout. That sounds great but doesn't the SEC get the payout and split it evenly among the schools? So, as long as an SEC team is in the Orange, we would get our equal share of the payout?

If that's the case, I'd love to go to the Peach and play Ohio State! Easy drive over for a weekend in Atlanta and would love to have a chance to smash the Buckeyes!!

If we keep the $18 Mil, then Orange Bowl it is!!!!!!

I believe it splits 15 ways, with us getting double all the other teams. 2/15s in essence. Or at least I read that somewhere. Maybe it is 16 ways, with the SEC office itself getting a share. Something like that.

Correct. It's 16 ways with us getting 2/16, 1/16 going to the other 13 teams and 1/16 going to the SEC.

Yep. The good news is that we also get 1/16 from everyone else's bowl too. S-E-C S-E-C

So that means an Orange Bowl berth is worth $3.4 million more to us than the Peach, Cotton, or Fiesta. Here's hoping we're the right MSU...

Ita hard tonfind concrete answers but i think the orange vs other access bowls is 27.5 mill in the orange vs 4 mill in the access. But i think the orange has some provisions to ensure it will be a balance between sec and big ten and nd. And it has something to do with contract bowls in non playoof years.

Doesn't matter. You'll still break even at best no matter what the bowl. Bigger bowl equates to bigger school expenses (tickets, band, etc.). Prestige is all you get, not extra cash for the athletic department.

I do not think that is right, bro. I think all the Big 6 are getting upwards of 20 million paid out.

This cannot be correct. Expenses should be roughly the same no matter what, barring differences in travel. Higher payout means higher profit, unless you just go out and blow cash.

Neither do I, nor do I participate in helping the bowl gather its payout. I was at the 2010 Gator Bowl and it seemed like those people treated us like crap. I decided then and there that if I was going to spend money on college football, it was going to be in Starkville, MS, with a few exceptions, such as if we played Notre Dame.

Some of it is that schools spend more, but you also have bigger commitments required of the school for the bigger bowls. I know uconn lost a **** ton of money going to a bus bowl because it couldn't sell it's ticket allotment and it had to guarantee the sale of the allotment in order to accept a bid.

I want no part of Ohio St. That's lose/lose. We win & we've beaten a 3rd string qb. If we lose then we (being a SEC team) lost to a Big Ten team on their 3rd qb.
