The MWC doesn't even want them. They are probably heading to Conference USA.

Memphis fans are convinced they are going to the Big East.

</span></div>"Quite frankly, judging from the comments on the LonghornBBS over on Yuku, I have not seen a single person unhappy about Aggy going to the SEC. They are showing their true colors. It is amazing to me that they are doing so against the wishes of their AD, who fully understands that in the long run, there will be more money rolling into the PACX coffers than the SEC coffers from their TV deals. I'll bet none of you knew that the PACX is in the process of negotiating a tv deal with a number of Asian countries. That is a deal none of the other conferences can even begin to consider."</span><font class="Apple-style-span" face="verdana, geneva, lucida, 'lucida grande', arial, helvetica, sans-serif" size="3"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: 13px; -webkit-border-horizontal-spacing: 1px; -webkit-border-vertical-spacing: 1px;">

The PacX wants to go "international" with their brand. It was a part of their pitch to the Big12S schools.

do they really think that they can sell college football to Asia. And not just college football, but a specific conference. That is the dumbest **** I have ever heard of.

If the PAC-10 was really interested in the Asian market, they would invite Hawaii.

That said, it is a retarded idea. And laughable.

That's like all of us on the East Coast have become such huge Rugby and Cricket fans b/c of how close we are to the UK.

However, Asia has over 4 Billion people. Obviously they aren't all living in urban areas with cable TV, butif they can even get a penny per subscriber from them for a TV network it could be a ton of money. The channels canjust sit there getting wasted as part of a cable package.

I think the Big 10 network charges 5 cents per subscriber outside of their main markets.

Remember this when it actually happens. Pretty sure the conference will be laughing at all that thought it wasa retarded idea at that point.</p>

The WChas a MASSIVE Asian population. The Pac10 schools have a huge number of foreign studentsfromAsian countries.

Why the hell not market yourselfover there? Seriously, what is the downside? More money?..oh fret! More recognition?...the horror!

That 7'4" or so Chinese guy that plays for Cal is a total joke of a basketball player, yet he has a friggin following over in China.

Its a market that is so largenone of us can evenactually grasp its size. And it is starved in terms of sports.

But hey, its something the SEC boys didnt think of, so its retarded.
Same thing happened when the Big10 launched its network. I remember the dozens of threads on multiple boards ripping on them for thinking anyone would want to watch Big10 football or basketball.
We are in anawesome conference in terms of competition and talent. As for innovation, the SEC is terrible.

Yep, we're both fortunate for that. If the SEC were being raided and dismantled like the Big 12, we'd both be up a creek getting ready to renew our yearly rivalry with USM as a conference game.

Thank goodness for the SEC's strength and stability.

In fact, it seems pretty retarded and laughable to think that there is *not* a market for almost anything in Asia, even American college sports. Even a small slice of the pie could offer a huge return on investment. If it flops, they'll have a pretty massive US TV contract to fall back on, so it's not like they have very much to lose.

The SEC already has a national following, why not take our product to an international audience as well? Who cares if people in Europe and Asia don't follow American football that much -- we'd still be getting more money.
