I wish they would release it with a juxtaposition of the results from '80 to '99

Wow, just wow. Maybe I am reading too much into it, but it seems this is the first official statement from an athletic department employee that our football recruiting has been subpar. He also calls out the talent level, and calls out the O-Line specifically.

I find this very encouraging. I think a lot of guys will work much harder if they know people will see their results. It feeds into the alpha male thinking. I also can't help but think if all the players scored over 100 points higher across the board from last year, that equals performance on the field. Keep up the hard work.

I'd like to see how we compare to the other Big 10 teams at the least, I can only imagine how we'd compare to Bama and teams equal to them.

This should be interesting. Can't wait for the tradition coalition to attack Boyd.

Boyd Epley isn't Nebraska enough to lead the development of this team into the future ;)

Well, he's no Scott Frost at least. Or whoever Scott Frost might hire. ;) ;)

I think we've heard Philip talk once, when he was hired, and how lucky he was to learn from Boyd.

Ever since, its been the Epley show.

Kinda shoots down the narrative that Boyd is here to collect a paycheck for time served and take BMI ratings on the VB team once in a while.

I'm going to guess that Boyd's proven performance index is some sort of secret sauce he doesn't hand out to any school that comes sniffing.

But maybe not.

I also think its interesting that the anti-Riley crowd is dead silent. Its deafening.

If Quayshon Alexander were to decommit in the next 60 seconds, in about 5 minutes we'd have 400 posts on what a sad sack Riley is.

A Husker hero comes out with data on a time proven performance index and says we basically have two seasons to go to see this thing back to standard...crickets.

I'll give them the benefit of the doubt though. If they are going to go after a legend like Boyd, they are going to have to bring their A game.

They are too busy referring to him as "Roid"... hmm. All those years Osborne was here and Boyd didn't come back. Took Eichorst to reel him in. The losers are having a hell of a time with facts, and they claim Boyd was the only one forcing roids into the boys back in the day. I'm sure the coach that hid a murder suspects gun in his desk, and made rapes go away had nothing to do with that stuff...

Epply reports to the AD not the HC. For me I think it's good and the same could be done with recruiting relative to the databases, mailings, correspondence and such. Kinda stupid to lose that when a HC leaves.

Boyd Eppely confirming what anybody who knows anything about football knows to be true. We don't have the Jimmy's and the Joe's in the trenches and the trenches is what wins football games. Maybe now we can all understand why Langs & Riley were so hesitant to commit to the running game this year.

All I have learned is that all Epley was only successful because of Roids. Man, those guys are rough. I wish Osborne could have won something on his own volition, but sadly it was all due to roids!

Just imagine if they released what a "team psychologist" thinks of some of these guys.... this place would be a ghost town for sure.

What I read was this:

“I can tell you right now after testing football four times up here, that our talent level is not where it used to be,” Epley said. “We do have some outstanding individuals at some positions; for example, running back and receiver would be outstanding."

Of course our talent level is not where it used to be - total agreement there especially when looking at the two deep. Not sure what you guys are using this to prop up Riley for ? Yes we need to upgrade our overall talent level - but no this article does not state everyone is a walk on

So where in the article does it say we have a lot of walk on level talent? It said we had 20 at 900 and a significant amount over 1500.

There is no excuse to be 5-7

Well that pretty much poured cold water on the idea we could turn this around quick. Sounds like Boyd thinks training will improve things but getting better athletes is the more permanent/realistic solution. F'ing Pelini.

"The football team, according to most recent testing in August, has three players — Epley was asked not to give names — at the 1,800 range, which is considered NFL caliber."

Any guesses on the 3?

Boyd affirms what our eyes have been telling us for the past several years. We are soft up front.
Time to rebuild the pipeline. It's long overdue.

Great...the former coach not only hated recruiting but he hated having the guys lift?
I think he liked guys that worked hard, but from everything indicated there was no real "punishment" for not pushing yourself in the weight room.

Yeah, I have heard things like that before too. I get it in the sense that you should not have to police them but once you are not seeing the results you want...you gotta start policing!!!

Is this news? We need to get stronger and faster especially up front if we are going to play with the big dogs. Nobody would argue that.
We aren't what we used to be. OK...very true.
We need better recruits. No kidding...we fired a guy because he couldn't win more than ten games...he needed better players.
In the Big Ten West we are behind...wait...we don't have a clue. The only guys who compare teams at every Big Ten training camp tell us how we stack up.

Nebraska 2015 < Nebraska 1995
Nebraska 2015 = to or > Big Ten West

Who "propped up Riley"??? You are really sad, this is a discussion of talent and athletic ability on the current team.

So you are saying we are weak, slow and are insulting our current players saying we need overall better recruits talentwise. Got it. Posts are archived now right?

Yes, in comparison to past "roided up" teams that Osborne needed to win big. Yes, all posts are easily archived as screen shots.

This is one of the many reasons we went 5-7. Riley gets some credit for the 5-7 record. Talent gets some credit. Work ethic gets some credit. The administration gets some credit. Turnovers and penalties get some credit. Team chemistry gets some credit. Regime change gets some credit. Dumb luck gets some credit.

This is who we are as a program as of right now. Unless we want to become our generation's Army or Minnesota, the road back to the elite starts with unification.

Compared to the top four schools...yes. Compared to the Big Ten West...no. Screen shot and archive all you want. I haven't had anything other than this belief for quite some time.

Former Huskers who are killing it now........... I wonder where a world class athlete/Olympic champion/male athlete of the year Jordan Burroughs would score? Female VB athlete of the year Jordan Larson?
