I am not surprised as we knew this was not a good football team. We have losses by 1, 17, 1, and 4 to teams that were "ranked". I don't think Boylan has ever been 0-4.

I know Appino had one bad year..2-7, I believe. Boylan has no depth, and no gamebreakers

I agree. This tells everyone how extremely weak this entire conference is this year. Boylan is 0-4 and has been in every game.

1. Conference is very poor. Given the real lack of success in the playoffs the last several years besides Boylan, the level of play is not high right now.
2. You're right. A 5 point loss to Harlem, a 1 point loss to Belvidere, and a 1 point loss to Hononegah this team could easily be 3-1.
3. Hononegah could potentially get hot, just got their two best kids back from suspension and go 9-0. I think the Boylan v. Hono game would have been different had those two played (QB, CB/WR).
4. I think most people that actively follow football in the stateline are not overly surprised at the 0-4 record, still looking at a best record of 4-5 with games still left to be played against North and Freeport.

I'd guess that the talent that would have been headed to Boylan is staying public more often now that Appino is at Auburn?

Correct. Kids are staying at Hononegah, kids are staying at Harlem, kids are finding a way to end up at Auburn. Also, Rockford Lutheran is now a 4A power and is getting kids to show up there as well. I would argue Lutheran is probably the 2nd or 3rd best football school in all of Rockford, regardless of school size. Auburn has 3 D1 kids, Harlem has 1, Lutheran has 1, Hononegah potentially has 2, while Boylan doesn't have any. That didn't happen 5-10 years ago.

If a Belvidere kid wants to play for a Catholic H.S. does he go to Boylan, Marian Central or St. Eds?

Boylan, or if he just wants a private school experience Lutheran. I don't think a kid would want to make the trek to MCC or St. Ed's.
Now if a kid lives in Marengo or Garden Prairie, I could see them going to MCC.

Boylan has 1 D1 prospect but he is only a freshman

That seems to be the trend, and I don't see it changing anytime soon. Also, Boylan's enrollment keeps shrinking. It was at 1500 in the mid-90's, it's now under 1000.

I also believe it was around 1100-1200 when I was in high school (2005-2009).
