but I didn't get it from BP, or any oilfield source, so I'm not passing on any proprietary stuff. It's a pretty good explanation in layman's terms of what they're trying to do with the top kill (for those of you who don't know what BOP's and LMRP's are, and couldn't tell the difference between a semisubmersible and a drillship).

There's some good info on there. For instance, I didn't know, although I suspected, that they had repaired the choke and kill lines and were pumping the top kill mud through them, instead of the siphon tube.

It would definitely work, if it wasn't leaking back through the riser, and it may still work if they can get more mud going down hole than is coming back out.

Also, taking off the LMRP and putting a new BOP stack on is exactly how they would fix it onshore. It's a little trickier 5000' underwater.
