Congrats to all. It will be a fun week on the south side pretending to be happy for one another during any encounters. In all seriousness, good luck to all. It really is quite something.

Imagine DeKalb if all...kidding...BR has no chance.

Marist/BR? I'm sure MC fans will be rabid supporters for Marist, SR fans what 50/50?

all due respect, you really think the majority of The Crusaders are rooting for us?

“Shoulder to shoulder we battle!”

They would if we were playing Marist or one of those other wannabe league teams.

Understand that we have bragging rights if we win state, Period.

I’ve been blessed to see MC play in 17 State Championships...technically 16, I didn’t see the 80 game, I honestly would not root against any team with neighborhood kids I’ve seen play since grade school unless they were playing MC. I know how great of an honor it is to play for State. I may like a school more then the other but I would honestly never root against them in this situation. Good luck to all. GO CARAVAN!

Great to see all these south side teams run deep in playoffs. Would love to see Rice vs Marist. I know Marist Rita and Rice made personal changes but did Carmel make any position changes?

Couple on the line due to injury a few weeks ago but none due to performance.

Except when Bowie plays for the Ramblers, unless it’s MC. I know..you don’t need to say it.

My old man was career Army too. He volunteered for three tours in Viet Nam, and then took on the job of personally informing the families that a loved one had been killed. A solemn and most difficult assignment.

Give him my thanks.

BTW, we had sons of career Army at MC when I was a student. The Army had a facility in Jackson Park. Where did you go to HS?

Well before all of you BR/Marist fans start making late lunch plans before the state 8A finals you have to win this weekend. And both teams are going to be double digit underdogs Saturday.

If it did happen I can see a monster crowd for that game. I'd attend.

The odds are a lot better of seeing a Nazareth/MC final in 7A.

Sorry, Smoky ...we're CCL all the way.

BTW, where did you go to high school?

Go Crusaders!

Speak for yourself. If Marist played Rice for a State Championship 99% of MC and Rita fans would cheer for the Redhawks. Odds are that it won't happen, but it sure would be fun to watch.

My brother went to marist and so did my two best friends from grammar school. I went to Rice... so you know already know what I feel about marist.
That has to be some classic holidays around the house

Speaking of speaking for yourself ...

Aren't you the guy who ran all those complaints about Rice's visitor stands when we didn't have any stands at all? Real smart.

This is a great thread and one my neighbor and I were talking about last night. What a party it would be! For the non southsiders my block alone has a current Marist starter, Rita starter and BR starter. The MC kid is on the next block.

Well I am rooting for LWE but that is kinda cool.

Very cool story

guy I knew coaches at a traditionally powerhouse catholic league team where he left, played the team in semi’s at his new school. His new school makes it to finals; his nephew plays at another traditional catholic school powerhouse before his team hits the field in the class below him. Between games they hugged. We’re excited for the family.

My buddies team loses. But the next game- the HC of the NEXT FINALS game was a long time family friend. Actually participated in the guys wedding!
3 close ties- family ties basically, 3 consecutive state title games. Only my buddies team lost though. Still hates talking about it.
