They must be unsure of who will throw. This allows them to get a dh matchup they want without having to sacrifice a batter. Tim corbin does it a lot.

RHP Williams on the mound, so I guess that means Vickerson will be in to get us some quality popups and strikeouts.

Glad we are finally catching on. If you don't have a set DH toward the top of the lineup, there is no downside to this move.

This was a move originally done by Earl Weaver, but MLB instituted a rule pretty quickly that the player listed at DH had to bat once.
