Notes: Missouri easily could have made the play-in game as well as they were bunched with the Rebels in that area of the RPI (and actually have a better RPI than Mississippi). I went with Mississippi first due to conference record. Missouri was knocked out because of their losing record. California was also a pretty easy selection what with them having a winning record in the Pac-12. Georgetown and Providence was a coin flip decision. I went with the Hoyas thanks to their better RPI (they're even in the Big East). I was tempted to choose St. Mary's and have them play California for the sake of geography but I think Tennessee has a slightly better profile than the Gaels at the moment.
The only Top 50 RPI teams not invited: Oregon, which is #41 in the RPI and has a 15-8 record; however, they are 3-8 in the Pac-12 & Missouri, #48 in the RPI but has a 4-6 record in the SEC.
