i think we pretty much have to win out and have one of those 5 teams fail. could probably lose one but we need to be 2 games ahead of one of those 5.

No way the SEC gets 6. Everyone else would go apeshit. I think it might take a couple of wins in Tampa to get in, not just a strong regular season finish.

Edit: Too used to saying Atlanta.

I should hope we arent mentioned. Lunardi is a tool, but even he doesnt suck enough to actually include us.

we will be close enough to the NCAA to make everybody wonder. It would take a monumental run to actually get in, but there's no way in hell we don't make the NIT.

I dont think we will finish the conference schedule any better than 3-3 down the stretch..We are going to drop the Tenn and Mississippi games, and Auburn, Fla, and SC at home will all be hard-fought with us probably dropping at least one of those

They probably won't show up and we'll be in the Not Invited, but we still gots what it takes to get us to the NCAA.

If you told me in October that we would be starting a freshman, a sophomore with no experience, Phil Turner, Jarvis, and a guy that shows up for every fourth game or so, and still even be discussing the NCAA tournament in February then I would have thought you were crazy. The NCAA would be an incredible feat for this team. Many, including myself, did not think that the NIT was even a possibility at the start.

are against:

UPig- (2)- 1-9
Jawja-(1)- 1-9
Bammer- (1)- 3-7
Vandy-(1)- 4-6
and
Kentucky

We are really about to find out about this team in the next 6 games

or by a deep SEC tourney run, we will finish at least in the last 4 out. That's based solely on my experience as a state fan of always being so close but not quite making it.

We play horrible defense... Live and die by the 3 ball, if no one gets hot from behind the arc we lose, period....
Look at our non-conf. schedule and loses to, San Diego, Charlotte, Cincy, WSU, & Tex Tech...
The NCAA committee will not like any of those loses...

This team is NIT or CBI bound..

1. The only people thinking we have an NCAA Tourney chance are the sheep like ewe. The hype mushroomed when we beat a bunch of bad SEC teams to start conference play. We'll get a good look at this team the last 6 games and what kind of team we really have.

"Many, including myself, did not think that the NIT was even a possibility at the start."

90% of this board predicted us to be anywhere from 6-10 to 9-7 in the SEC this season. All the talk was about how the "SEC is weak" and we should be able to compete very well. The NIT was considered pretty much a given.

I feel like we have to win the SEC tournament at this point to make the NCAAs. However, I would not put it past us to do just that. We have a good solid nucleus but we need more strength inside and another year of experience to be a real NCAA contender. Again, there is no shame in this team being in the NIT. Anything that would extend our season and give us more experience is a plus this year.

of our SEC schedule would be tougher than it was. I was definitely wrong about that. Turns out SC and Auburn ended up being better than Bama and Vandy

due to the fact that they never doubled him and were clearly overmatched one on one.

LSU made a point to not lose by our 3 point shooting and were pretty much face guarding at half court

The last two games are prime examples and I wonder if SC employs the same strategy-

Extend the perimeter defense and let Varnado do his thing inside. Make our inside game beat them- not the perimeter. Pretty good strategy against us the last two games. We'll see if we can adjust

but we DO have someone who can score inside if left alone. Obviously our team relies heavily on the 3, but fishwater seems to be saying that's the only way that we can win- and that's not true. LSU took away the 3, but jarvis put up 31 and we almost beat probably the best team in the league. And at Auburn, scoring wasn't our problem it was defense.

I am not saying that is the only way we can win, but the 3 ball is the major factor in our wins and loses...Look at the statistics, they don't lie.
Stans has chosen that method to play out this season and I disagree with him, I think we can not win consistently with the 4 guard lineup.
Teams are adjusting and we are losing, I think we need to adjust our lineup and go big for a few games.
It will help our rebounding margin and keep some pressure off our 3 point shooters(Ravern,Turner, and Randy).
I also don't know why we sub 4 or 5 players at a time, we are not Duke or UNC, our talent level drop off is huge.

It has been our best chance to win this season. Osby and Augustus struggle on defense and are not consistent scorers. Just because they are taller does not mean that everything would magically be better. Stansbury has done a great job with the players that we have so far. He has played to our strengths which is three point shooting. We would not have won some of the games we did if not for the 4 guard lineup.

We were 6-3 with the big line-up- 10-6 with the 4 guards...winning percentage is actually better with the big line-up...granted the schedule has been different...but who knows had we worked hard to develop our young post players where we would be right now

The schedule was much easier when we went bigger. Also let's not discount the fact that many of our big men have had injuries at various times. It has been rare that we had all of them available to play.
