"The most celebrated change, of course, is the spread offense Mullen directed at Florida. It possesses no magical powers - don't expect <span class="caps">MSU</span> to be throwing up 40 points a game this fall - <span style="font-weight: bold; text-decoration: underline;">but it's a most welcome change from</span> Sylvester Croom<span style="font-weight: bold; text-decoration: underline;">'s unproductive, ill-managed West Coast "attack," which was more like an assault with Styrofoam hammers."</span></p>

"My career is based on decisions of 17-year-olds and the actions of 18- to 22-year-olds," he said. "That's the people that you're dealing with right there, you'd better immerse yourself in that world. I try to listen to the music they listen to, talk to them about what's going on in today's world, find out the TV shows they like, try to watch the TV shows, just keep up with all the things that are going on out there in the world that these 17-, 22-, 23-year-olds, (what) kind of encompasses their life."

something to the effect of, a coaches career hangs on the shoulders of an 18 year old standing alone, on his own goal line, at night, under bright lights, before 100,000 screaming people, being watched by millions around the country, trying to catch a hunk of leather falling out of the sky at 60 miles per hour, from 80 ft up.

I don't envy a coaches job.

but hate him as a commentator. Another great Lou quote from his time at ND: "Recruiting is about getting the best twelve players in the entire country and the other twelve have to be guys that really want to play at the University of Notre Dame." I don't care what others think of him... He's a brilliant man.
