The New Orleans Blue Pelicans!!! Hopefully Barrett or Reddish get selected at #4 and join Jackson, Ingram, Zion, and Okafor in NOLA

Plus Zion, so you've got Frank Jackson, Brandon Ingram, Jahlil Okafor. Well, they're really trying to make me like the Pelicans, but no dice. But it's still cool to see all these duke players on one team.

Same here. It would probably take Coach K being the coach for me to like the Pelicans. And they’d have to change their mascot to something more intimidating than a pelican.

With the Pelicans having 4 former Duke players including Zion. Won’t that make the most former Duke players on the same team? I know there’s been at least 1 time where there have been 3 former Duke players on the same time.

If Daddy Ball is part of the deal then I say the Lakers got a deal. If Daddy Ball has to stay home and watch then advantage Pelicans. OFC

If UNC went to Duke last year and offered Brandon Robinson, Nassir Little and Garrison Brooks plus 2 future 3 stars (essentially what draft picks in the late 20s are on the college scale and where those picks will probably end up being) and a future top 20 recruit for Zion you guys would laugh and hang up the phone. So consider that and then tell me how the Lakers lost this deal. If you can get a generational superstar in his prime without even giving up an all star caliber player you won the deal

Except the three players you named are not an equivalent comparison. Are any of the three UNCheat players even starters? I know one of them isn’t.

Can AD stay healthy is the question? LeBron is still playing well, but he is also getting older. NOLA is setting themselves up for the future with all the young talent. I like NOLA’s future better than LA’s, on the contrary I like LA’s present better than NOLA’s.

They knew they had a 4 year window when they signed Lebron. If they sign Kemba or Kyrie they have to be considered the favorites with KD and Klay set to miss almost all if not the entire season. Difference now is if they signed Kyrie or Kemba they still have 2 superstars to build around after Lebron leaves, with both still in their primes

I thought I read recently that Kyrie to Brooklyn was a done deal.

I don’t know about KD but with the way it’s gotten to where players/athletes recover so much quicker from ACL injuries I doubt that Klay Thompson will miss as much of next season as you think he will. I’ve seen players/athletes return from ACL injuries after about 6-8 months and there’s about 9-10 months before next season starts.

I’m no GM but that seems like a LOT for one player.

Can't win a title without multiple elite players. The Celtics gave away 7-8 players (if you count all the picks) for the rights to Kevin Garnett back in 07. They won that trade, no question.

Also, not really a fan of bringing Sideshow Ball over to the Zion show.

Huh? Season starts middle of October. Thats in 4 months. If it takes him 8 months to return to form (which is pushing it) hes not coming back until the All Star break

You’re right. I had the numbers backwards in my head for some reason. I’m still recovering from drinking too much last night so I got my numbers backwards lol

LeBron had a few years left and the Lakers know it that's why they made this trade....smart IMO....trying to get a title before LeBron is done

Is LeBron still a top 5 player? I know it sounds sort of ridiculous to even consider that, but LeBron is aging, he'll be 35 in December, and there's a lot of talent. I think you could legitimately make the claim that he's not a top 5 talent anymore. I don't watch enough NBA to really make a definitive statement, but something to chew on. Here are some of the elite names (not in order).

-Giannis
-James Harden
-Kawhi Leonard
-Joel Embiid
-Anthony Davis
-Kevin Durant
-Stephen Curry
-LeBron James
-Nikola Jokic
-Damian Lillard
-Paul George
-Karl-Anthony Towns
-Russell Westbrook

Others (no chance any of these players are currently ahead of LeBron, but I think the list shows there's quite a few talented players):
-Kyrie Irving
-Kemba Walker
-Jimmy Butler
-Rudy Gobert
-Blake Griffin
-Klay Thompson
-LaMarcus Aldridge
-DeMar DeRozan
-Victor Oladipo
-John Wall
-Andre Drummond
-Chris Paul
-Kristpas Porzingis
-Luka Doncic
-Devin Booker
-Donovan Mitchell
-Bradley Beal
-Khris Middleton

IMO a healthy Durant and Leonard are the only 2 even in the conversation for all around players in the same category as LeBron right now

If I had to rank them at this present time,

1) LeBron
2) Kawhi
3) KD
4) Giannis
5) AD/Steph (Toss Up)

Because of what he does on D, I’d take AD over Steph. IMO, it’s Steph and Giannis battling for that 5 spot, only cause The Freak can’t shoot...yet.

LeBron is coming off of a season averaging 27, 8 & 8. I'd say he's still top 5 in the league until proven otherwise. Giannis, Kawhi, Harden, Durant & Steph are the only ones you can argue for and Harden come playoff time shrinks.
