There seems to be a misconception that the Center in Pope's offense needs to shoot threes. Amari Williams only attempted 4 threes on the season. I like the combination of Garrison/Moreno at Center next season. Both may be able to play 4 some if they play together, but both are Centers in Pope's offense, imo.

I listened to poster after poster cry and whine for YEARS that Cal never kept and developed any of his players. Now we have a coach trying to do that and your pissin and moaning about that .What a crock of horse 🍎

If you’re going to insult someone, get the measurement correct. It has more impact.
6”? I was too lazy to look it up. Let’s go inner ear to inner ear. That’s gotta be close to 3”.

I honestly don’t mean it as an insult. It’s a snarky way of saying his immaturity is costing him. He’s too much Cousins in actions and not enough Cousins in play.

My concern too, DraftCat. Difficult to see what he’s good at. He’s okay at a few things and I don’t see a star in the making. Hoping I’m wrong

Not everyone is gonna be a star or will need to be. Cal isn’t here any longer and we have a coach who knows what he’s doing in constructing a roster.

My question is how does Garrison get better?

He won't ever be a shot blocker so his defense on the ball must improve. Can he improve his 3 point % again I can't see his back to back game improving and he's not really a lob threat.
He played PF at OK ST and Center here so that changes some things for shot blocking. He’s gonna be the starting 5 or backup 4 one or the other or both.

I’m agree with you. I’m a Pope guy. Like i said I hope BG is amazing next year. I think there are some concerns but I don’t think that’s a shot at Pope. I’m beyond glad to have Pope rather than Calipari as well. 👍

Garrison has everything needed to be an SEC starter except maturity. I believe Pope can get him pointed in the right direction.

He can definitely be immature. I like his fire though, let’s hope he can reign it in.

Garrison and Moreno can make an occasional 3pt. shot, but I don't think we want to see either shoot that shot often - which is fine by me. I wish both would be feared enough from the perimeter so that their defender couldn't drop back into the lane, but I don't foresee that wish coming true next season.

The same people that have given up on Garrison believe Noah will develop into Larry Bird 2.0.
I personally haven't seen anybody say anything close to that. If you don't think Garrison and Noah won't be bigger contributors next year I just don't know what to say. But I think they will be contributing a lot more next season. I think that is easy to see. They will be coached up a lot. Same for Perry.

I don’t know….if Garrison started and played 25 minutes or so before conference gets going, I think you’d see what he might have to offer.

By the time we are done with the roster I feel like Noah and Perry are gonna be like 13th and 14th in line for minutes. I just can’t figure out how 15 roster spots are going to work out.

Hopefully Garrison signs the contract and Pope gets his moneys worth.

Garrison has potential.. But it's just potential right now.

I appreciate the passion and energy he can bring but he needs to work on his touch around the rim more than his three points shot.

It should be impossible to be that big and athletic and have almost zero skills around the rim.

He needs to work on his body (getting stronger) hopefully Coach can settle him down with the ball in his hands.

Brandon has all of the tools I think we can all see that. It’s just the mental part that’s held him back somewhat but that can come with age and experience.

This is what most of us expected.

Oweh and Garrison will be starters.

Chandler already said he was coming back.

Perry and Noah are Kentucky kids and bleed blue. They aren’t giving up this quickly, especially since they both saw way more playing time their Freshmen year than they or anyone else expected.

We got 9 now.

Need a couple potential superstars and a couple of role players to round out the roster.

They are a couple minor concerns but Pope has earned my trust. I’m excited to watch all the pieces fall and how they mesh together.

Ain’t gonna lie. Board has went head over heels into negativity with portal season. It’s nice to have some Pope trusters out there talking about the bright side for sure.

It has, which I’m not knocking the true fans who are concerned but a lot of negativity is coming from trolls.

Everyone has their guy they want us to get and when we don’t get him, the sky is falling.. lol

Also, the ones complaining about other teams (UL) signing more guys than us do not realize that we aren’t replacing as many players as them.

People still calloused over Cal. Sucks people don’t consider all the factors, like you said we have 9 players on the roster. Fans scared of Louisville and it makes no sense to me. Cards stunk. They will next year too.

It is what it is man. I love reading this board but it definitely makes it frustrating sometimes.

PK is a decent coach that will win a few games in the ACC but will never beat us on a consistent basis or be a contender on a consistent basis.

They need more than just gunslinging guards to win anyway. Pope is working hard to address all the issues we had last year to have a complete team: size, defense, versatility. I’m here for it

I believe Garrison will have a big year. He has all the tools to be successful.
He may peak next year…but why didn’t he show any post game , passing was poor imo, only shot 30% from deep, wasn’t a shot blocker and was a decent but not great rebounder? He played nearly 20 mpg…and didn’t really improve a ton as the season went on

I just don’t feel good at all of giving him starting spot with a thin Moreno backing up

I don’t see BG as an impactful 4. He doesn’t handle the ball well enough. I cringed every time he dribbled.

There are too many to name, but it is VERY common for bigs to make the jump going from under classman to upper classman (sophomore to Jr year). He played 17 mpg. 6pts / 4 reb. / 2 assist / 1 steal / .6 blocks. The 2 assist per game in 17 minutes per shows me he has and did show really good passing ability. He shot 58% from the field inside the 3 point line. He shot 40 3s in 35 games, at OSU he attempted ZERO. So that tells me one thing, he has DEVELOPED an outside shot. Meaning if he made that much expansion of his game in one year, what can he do in 2 more years ? But critical fans ONLY look at the negative parts as they do not want deviate away from their slanted opinions but looking at positives by a player they simply do not like.

Going from ZERO 3s attempted to shooting 3s tells me he had zero outside game before this year. 30% is not great by any standards, even for 6-11 245 pound bigs, but it is a very good starting point. The most he took in a game was 5 vs LSU, he hit 2 of them. Lots of games 0-1. If you only shot 1 attempt, obviously misses will hurt the %, low volume shooting can do one of two things, really inflate a person's ability if they make them, or deflate a person's ability if the miss the 1 per game they shoot.

Something very interesting : (games Garrison shot more than 1 three pointer)
Jax St. - 0/2
Gonzaga - 1/2
Brown - 1/2
Bama - 1/3
SC - 1/2
Tenn. - 1/2
Oklahoma - 2/3
LSU - 2/5
Troy - 1/3
Illinois - 0/2
Total in games shooting more than 1 per game : 10/26 (38%). It backs my theory that limited shots can paint a negative result. A bigger sample size by using games he shot multiple 3s shows the ability is there if opportunities are there. 30%-38% is not a huge difference, except in the eyes of people using the 30% against. Now AT THIS POINT in his career do I feel he is a great 3 point shooter ? No, not enough data to come to a conclusion. But I do feel he can be a solid shooter, closer to the 38% than the 30%. Anyway, just some points to consider (If you can do so without bias for or against BG).
