Matt Jones was hinting yesterday that Kerr may transfer to Saint John’s. I would hate to see that as I think our fanbase really appreciates Kerr and deserves to see him for a full season. Not sure what his reasoning would be either, as he has spoken glowingly of UK since coming here.

It is reasonable, if kerr gets an additional year, he will not have much playing time here as we are likely to recruit another starting pg and lewis, johnson and perry all can play pg.

Not sure why Garrison would transfer unless he doesn’t want to play second fiddle next year. He has improved, is getting some playing time, and I hope he stays.

Kerr’s last chance to make money playing basketball in America, so he could try one more time to be a starter at St. John’s? Can’t imagine the NIL being much different for him. I’d like to have him back as long as he is OK with a backup role again. I really liked his spark off the bench and seems to be a great teammate.

He will not play much here if he gets another eligible year, he may start or play main minutes elsewhere

Also, Garrison may be uncomfortable with current playing style, maybe he does not like the "passing center" role in Pope's system

I ain't just real sure Garrison is all the way sold on the hard work to get his game to next level. That's a Lotta commitment, and BG seems a pretty happy go lucky guy. It also could be he doesn't believe this staff could get him NBA ready this next year.

AAAAANND it could all just be b s.

Kerr on the other hand may not feel he is going to be #1 on the depth chart...and if he wants a pro contract somewhere may feel he needs to look elsewhere. ORRRRRT...could also be b.s.

I’ve always assumed Garrison was getting between like 500k and 800k this season. We pivoted to him after Great’s huge NIL demands and got him to commit without even visiting so I assume it was a healthy number.

I think if you’re Pope you aren’t wanting to pay that again especially as a coaching staff that loves their analytics where Garrison really struggles.

Think Garrison can still get another decent payday as a “free agent”. McD AA pedigree with time at UK and multiple major conference seasons under his belt with a clean bill of health.

I think BG will get bigger money and bigger role in a smaller P5 school...Just like his former school OK ST...

It’s odd if true about some speculation, but this programs deals with things other high profile programs don’t have too deal with. For one Kerr can see from this year he will get to play a lot no matter who’s here. As for Garrison, we have one big signed that is not going to beat him out. If he were to leave it would be because he does not buy in to what Pope is doing. His NIL deal is more here than it would be anywhere else and he would be more relevant here than anywhere else. Most of the other top teams have 3 decent big men and 3 decent subs on the front line that don’t worry about the things that come up here.

I hope Garrison stays, but will not be too disappointed if he leaves. The guy cannot rebound, and his defense is just so-so. We need someone as big as him who’s a warrior on the glass and who can play a role similar to what Williams does today. Who knows, maybe Pope tweaks the offense to fit whoever the #1 Big is next year.

Garrison is the only player regressing... It is shocking

Arkansas could be in play if BG enters.
They will lose Aidoo and probably Z and haven't signed any HS bigs.
As for Kerr to SJU, Rick was quoted that he couldn't replace Kandary Richmond or Devion Smith with HS players.
Kerr is definitely not a replacement for either guy.
Rick would just be treading water with Kerr.

I doubt Pope is going to move away from the 5-out at this point. More teams are going to it than before, it is kind of shown to be meta at this point in basketball. Pope didn’t luck into a top 10 offense in these last two seasons — it has a lot to do with the five man being able to play make for four other players from the perimeter with optimum space. My guess is he goes even stronger toward physicality and defense in this next portal cycle as the defensive side of the ball is the only thing keeping Pope from building a juggernaut.

For all the talk that he cannot rebound, he is averaging 4.2 a game in 17.6 min, as opposed to Carr who is snagging 4.6 in 23.1 min a game. I do think that number would obviously go up with a few more minutes next year. However, its just the offense and his decision making. I don't want him having the ball unless he's wide open under the basket. And some of the passes he attempts just makes you scratch your head. To me, he has been the only disappointment this year. But there's still time for him to emerge. He just seems so raw and has maybe regressed some. He would have to make a major leap for me to see us counting on him alot next year. Whether he goes or stays we will be fine next year. I just think the staff envisioned more for and out of him.

Considering Garrison's size and athleticism, his rebounding and defence performance is pathetic.

I hope that neither leave. I was excited when both chose to pay for UK this year.
IF I am honest, I thought both would have contributed more. Hard to say anything negative about Kerr since he is injured.
Garrison I thought would have been a much better shot blocker and rebounder.
Both of these guys seem very happy and supportive of the other team members.
Being able to transfer every year is absurd. Something must be done to stop that.

Definitely not something to be concerned about in February. I worry today if I will have a nice buffer if I take a public dump. (Thanks, Buc-ees!) This is interesting information but not something that should have even been reported and certainly nothing to be concerned about.

But but, he’s injured and really wants to get back onto the court for UK!

Nah, nothing suspicious about any of that 😂

I going to take what may hit many as a popular opinion on all this.
I go back to several years ago when Michigan had a very good team and its coach at that time Bill Frieder (spelling) I believe was looking at the Arizona St coaching position when the AD fired him saying "There will be a Michigan man on my bench" and hired Steve Fischer to finish the season.
I loved that myself.
Same thing here. If this is true and a player posted he is going to transfer, then that tells me his heart is not into it and is only our for himself and as Bob Knight once said, :Bench, meet ***, *** meet bench"

I hope all this is BS. But if true, then why wait, leave now.

Garrison starts next year. I don't see freshman Moreno beating him out. He's hit a few 3s too so I see him fitting in with Pope's offense. I don't see Kerr leaving either.
I think Moreno is not worse than Garrison as of now... Moreno has higher basketball IQ, also bigger size and more better touch around basket
