Exactly.

JQ will be in the high post and BG/MD will start on the wings, set screens, make cuts to the basket, shoot open 3’s, and occasionally post up, just like Carr did.
Neither are known for outside shooting. MD hit 12 all last season.

If BG returns as expected, I think you go all in on a wing shooter and you’re finished putting together your 2026 rotation
Add Wilkerson or Pierre or if he goes to the portal Haggerty from Memphis

A backcourt with Lowe, Haggerty, and Oweh! Talk about bucket getters. How do you defend that? Only weakness might be that none are just dead eye shooters. But keeping those three out of the lane would be near impossible.

I highly doubt we are going for Haggerty. JMO

But Wilkerson and this team is truly ELITE!

That means that we have no true big stretch 4 at all next year. So we except our 6’7 and 6’8 SF to defend the post against 6’10-6’11.so no Alvaro Folg and or Andrija Jelavic BUMMER.

Was Andrew Carr a stretch four? If so, BG can be just as much a stretch four as he was
To me he was both because he could handle the ball and had mid range and post moves. BG doesn’t handle the ball well enough and doesn’t have post moves we all watched him struggle in the post up unless he was cutting to the basket. I hope he’s working on all that right now.

He won’t need to post. We have JQ and Moreno for that. BG just needs to spot up and shoot threes and occasionally back cut or rim run and catch lobs

Not worried, just concerned.

Adding a quality big is going to be tricky.

Who is going to want to come here and play behind JQ once JQ gets healthy? Especially with a McD’s AA Freshman also on the bench.
If the player is afraid to compete for playing time with a freshmen and a player who just had knee surgery, then UK does not need him anyway.

I highly doubt he's working on anything on the court. He seems like the kind of guy that would start doing that in the middle of next season. The hops are there, the athleticism is there, the motor is not.

I don’t see JQ being ready by September. BG better improve massively again on ball handling and improving the 30% from 3 compared to the other stretch 4s we aren’t going after. Just think people are putting a lot of stick in a 3 guys that shoot bad from 3 and the ft line. I prefer them in the middle and mid range. But I trust in the staff they know what they need in the guys they have assembled.

Just enjoy the ride man. Us fans don’t control the roster —- a lot of us are just talking out our hind ends. I appreciate that you said you’re trusting the coach. I am too. (I don’t personally see the pot of gold with BG myself but I’ll trust Pope).

Y'all are sleepin on BG. Kid has tons of potential. He is exactly the type of kid we should want to retain and develop.
Yes but not as a starting center or PF. It’s not like he progressed down the stretch to where I believe he is ready to take the next step. Again I hope I’m wrong

I mean I agree to an extent… but in reality, he is only that type of kid if he wants to be that type of kid.

You’re at Kentucky, dude- where the goal is a national championship, and team goals come before individual goals. If you’re on board, great. If not, good luck at your next stop.

Garrison just turned the ball over again
..
I really hope and look forward to you naysayers eating a lot of crow next season. I mean...show me another burger boy with his height and athleticism with a pretty decent 3 ball. Those three things alone make pro careers. Ya'll are just freakin crazy. Yeah, I hoped he had a better season this last year but he was solid and I'd bet on a player like him improving in his Jr year, pretty much...whoever it is. He'll get paid somewhere and I hope we don't face him when he breaks out. The kid has the highest ceiling on our team and a year in the system. It's just hard for me to root against him or to believe he's not a huge piece to next season. Not many teams would pass on him if he enters the portal. I really hope he stays and sees it through. He will play pro ball but yeah, he has plenty to work on between now and then. He really looked better in some ways early in the season. He has a pretty decent hook shot that just needs a little to be unstoppable. The kid had a lot on his plate for his age, knocking up his girlfriend while adjusting to a new home, team and system this season. He'll grow up in a hurry next season. Life changing stuff was going on with him this year but his potential is through the roof.

I think Pope clearly wants Noah to be a small ball 4. Clearly Dioubate can defend a big and will be the primary 4 this year. I assume Garrison and JQ will also play some 4.

Same for Oweh? What if we were talking about him instead?

Noah has a long way to go but he will contribute soon. I look for him to improve next year but to really break out his Jr and SR years. He has the size and is a good shooter but lacks quickness. Heck, he looks better but still has baby fat!! He'll improve with time, experience and better conditioning. It'll help a bunch having better talent around him next year, too. This season, Oweh is the only guy on the team that could take his guy off the dribble and he is really just a bit above average in that regard. Love him though and he'll be better too, with more talent around him. We still ne a DJ type of guy that can get to the basket at will but we are far better going forward than a year ago in that regard.

Our returning players all need to improve but that's exactly what young players are expected to do. Oweh will be fine and better than last year. Future looks very bright as of now, even if we don't sign another player...but we will, and they'll be studs, I think. Be patient. Some of the best players are just now entering the portal..or will.

Haggerty would be a priority recruit for sure, but I think we may be to into Wilkerson and Pierre to even wait that out. I’d rather have then miss on both and hope he enters and get into a bid war for him.

I think Noah will be a very good player at some point here. Whether it’s next year or his Junior year who knows. He shoots it well enough and just needs to gain muscle and strength. Learn some better defensive tips and tricks and he’s set.

I think he’s a solid player. I’m glad he is staying. I think he has a good year. Needs to improve effort, rebounding, and attitude. I could see him being very good his second year though.

Better players around him will help but I agree...he needs better conditioning to gain mostly lateral quickness, both on offense and defense. Even Perry might grow the same way but Noah has better tools for this level than Perry. Both will contribute next year if both stay, Perry specifically. I'm on the fence with him in regard to IF he'll stay or go. I lean toward him staying.

Some(most) will disagree with me but if I had to choose between keeping only one...Garrison or Oweh, I'd keep Garrison. Guards with Oweh's skills are pretty readily available but you can't coach size and athleticism..and he has a good 3 ball for a big. As well as at least 2 more years of eligibility left.

Yeah, I know most won't like it but I stand by it until his play next season proves me right or wrong.

Are you doing okay? I haven't seen you around in awhile.
Hey Noci, thanks for your concern. I had a mini-stroke late last fall and ended up being hospitalized for about a week. That's when I really stopped posting. Then I got completely out of the habit. But I'm doing much better, feeling more like myself, and I'm back posting more regularly. 😀
